In its early days, Talat was really committed to lots of gluten-free options. They used rice flour to fry things and the vast majority of the menu was in-play.

Last night I got a heavily sharpied-out menu that eliminated 75% of the menu due to the chef’s extensive use of soy sauce as a crutch. I had one main available to me, one appetizer, and one curry. While I appreciate them being careful, the lack of any kind of substitutions or changes to their big dishes has made dining as a celiac a lot less pleasurable.

Excellent food. Many great options for celiacs. They were educated and I saw the servers talking with the chefs and they directly marked up the menu for me. Not a dedicated fryer

Almost their entire menu was gluten free and I think all of it was dairy free. They were very warm and welcoming. They took a menu and marked out the items containing gluten, but did not have a ready made GF menu, and they only marked out like 3 things! It was a great experience, superb food, casual but very warm service. The drinks were a little sweeter than I like. Get the young coconut sorbet if they have it! It’s so good. I was very happy to see these folks doing so well. Highly recommended. It would rule if they had a GF menu at the ready and on their website but that’s my only request.

The most delicious Thai food. Almost everything is gluten free and everything is marked on the menu. We shared shrimp chips, oysters, flounder, and a delicious crab salad. It’s SO GOOD.
