We have been eating here annually during ski trips to Granite Peak for at least five years & my daughters (who have celiac) always look forward to it! We do too b/c staff & kitchen are familiar with Celiac & are happy to assist.

The quality here has decreased significantly since last time I visited. Their website advertises GF deep fried battered fish on Fridays. They had no batter available, and, from what it sounded like, the waitresses didn't even know that was an option. That were very unapologetic about it, and wouldn't even bring out the manager when I asked you talk to someone. The broiled fish was all they had for date GF fish, and it was bland and unappetizing. The cheese curds were still good, and that's about the only redeeming factor to that visit.

Update: my sister also has celiac and she ordered GF mozzerella sticks. They brought her regular which she didn't realize till she was very very sick afterwards! They sent her a gift card after she complained, which she will obviously never use 🙃😖

One of my favorite places to eat! They have gf chicken tenders, cheese curds, and mozzarella sticks. It’s amazing all their options. GF bar food and it’s all delicious

A must stop in Wausau. Great food and never a bad experience. Redbridge beer, cheese curds, wings, poutine and the Reuben are all great choices

The food here is absolutely fantastic! I have had pizza, sandwiches, fries, and cheese curds. Everything was awesome!! I highly recommend The Bar to anyone with Celiac Disease.

Delicious! First time I have had wings, and cheese curds since being diagnosed ! Ranch dressing was also GF… it was homemade and fantastic

Excellent GF pizza thin and crispy as well as GF cheese curds. I’m a celiac and even a little cross contamination would make me sick for days. No issues with eating here and food was amazing.

I've gotten gluten free food here on several occasions before and they were amazing with gluten free and it was delicious, however I ordered gluten free mozzarella sticks on another occasion and they did NOT give me gluten free, they game me regular. I got severely sick. Please be sure the waiters know to tell the cooks it has to be made gluten free. The items on the menu that say "cf" (celiac friendly) do not automatically come gluten free, they have to be made that way.

I first reviewed this place quite a few years ago. It is still a sports bar, lol. But in the past five or more years it has become my go to place for celiac safe fare. I typically get wings and fries, or a burger and fries. In the last two or three months they added fish fry on Fridays and I haven't had fish fry in years, so pretty amazing to get it. Pretty yummy. I note the earlier review re they ran out of batter? Based on timing it may have been the first or second Friday ever of doing GF fish fries for them, so I'd give them some slack. And, oh yeah, another new thing... deep fried cheese curds. Can you sense a theme? They have a dedicated fryer. Their waitstaff are well educated. I don't always get outward symptoms if I've been glutenated but I've eaten here pretty regularly over the years and never gotten reactions like have other places around Wausau that are usually safe.

Maybe 6 months ago I asked what was up with them...why the emphasis on celiac safe vs gluten friendly? The server happily told me that one of the owners or one of the owner's wives was celiac. So it was a condition they trained their staff about and took care to provide for in back.

It's a sports bar. Not fine dining. But food is good and atmosphere is friendly and low key if the BIG game is not on to amp things up. If you are celiac or GF by choice there are Plenty of options. GF free pizza and buns for burgers. I suspect UDIs. Huge thing for me is the dedicated GF fryer for things like French fries. GF Hot wings. They even make sure the ketchup and mustard and dressings are gluten free.

My Celiac daughter has eaten here several times. It’s always a safe experience. Almost everything is available gluten free and they have a separate prep area.

Gluten Free cheese curds are AMAZING! I'm picky and I couldn't fault this place if I tried!! Designated fryer and the server was very knowledgeable! I have celiac and didn't get sick at all!

This restaurant is my favorite place to enjoy a good meal. I've never gotten sick and recommend their gf paninis! I love them. It is worth the wait and money.

Wings are great. No gf cheese curds at this location sadly. There us at the Lyndale location in Appleton. Tower of fries were not good. Service was horrible. Absolutely horrible. They were short staffed for a Packer Sunday. Seriously... I never saw my server til we had to go to the bar to tell him to get our server. I will probably never go to this location again.

So nice to find a GF option around here. We had a burger with a gf bun, French fries and a gf pizza. All good and hard to come by in these parts, much less in a sports bar. (We sat outside next to the fire pit.)

The food and options are awesome!! Very Celiac friendly separate fryers for gluten menu items. No other restaurants in the area offer more gf options!!! My daughter is celiac and it's her favorite place. However The service is 50/50 sometimes we have great service sometimes it's terrible. It's not even a matter of how busy there is just a group of waitress who have no skills.

Be careful!! I have had good experiences, but have also gotten sick multiple times. Got wings and a sandwich on gluten free bread (both labeled celiac friendly), tested with my Nima Sensor and said it had gluten. I would be cautious if eating here as a celiac!

I think I may have just come on an off night. I asked about gluten free options and was told there were none at all because of an issue with the kitchen. After going back and forth I learned the GF fryer was down but apparently I also couldn't get a GF pizza or sandwich? Server seemed very confused and just not at all confident about gluten or celiacs disease. Got a salad, which said allergy on the ticket, but still got sick. Overall disappointing after all the rave reviews.
