On safety—We have a gluten free pasta substitution that is separately wrapped, stored, and prepared from our other pasta dishes. As for our gluten free pizzas, we have separate pans and cutting tools utilized during our preparation and cooking process, and it is prepared on a table separate from our dough table. Any items that require oil for cooking (I.e- french fries or nonbreaded chicken wings) are prepared in separate oil from items that may contain gluten.

We just ate in Jonesborough, and the taste was great. Everthing was made fresh and very tasteful. Our server Paul did an excellent job and knowledgable. I even liked the tea which I usually do not. I have eaten there 4 times and the food was great, service was top notch and no gluten issues....I love this place.

We have had the gluten free noodles with no issues at all but the gluten free carrot cake is worth the drive just for it alone...which we have done repeatedly. Can I say more? NO!

At The Black Olive, we value providing safe options to all of our customers. This includes our customers with Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivities and Celiac Disease. We carry multiple options for substitutions, making a majority of our menu modifiable to accomodate a need for gluten free dishes. We carry gluten free spaghetti as well as Zucchini Noodles that can be substituted in any pasta dish (with the exception of specialty noodles such as lasagna and manicotti). We also carry gluten free pizza crust and a cauliflower crust option to be substituted for any of our pizzas. Any gluten free products are stored and prepared separately from other items to avoid contamination, with certain utensils and equipment being designated specifically for gluten free dishes. We strive to make sure that we create a safe and trustworthy place for people who require gluten free diets.

Having celiac disease AND trying to eat Italian food is always difficult. Upon visiting this restaurant, I was very pleased to hear that the waitstaff understood what was gluten-free and what was not. I ordered the gluten-free pasta with chicken and shrimp, in a sun-dried tomato creamy Alfredo sauce. The creamy sauce was perfection. No weird textures, well salted, very flavorful. The sun-dried tomatoes were pleasantly sweet and added an extra level of dimensional flavor. The chicken was still tender and moist, easily cut with my fork. Lastly, the gluten-free pasta was not crunchy but cooked to perfection. It was so delicious that I was almost afraid to eat it. Fast forward 48 hours, I still had no glutening symptoms. I am so happy to find a local restaurant that serves amazing food. Can't wait to go back!!!

Went with our ncgs daughter. We'll definitely be bringing our celiac son. Our waitress, Caliope was very knowledgeable and our daughter enjoyed gf cheese bread, gf pasta and then homemade gf carrot cake!!! We had "regular" food. It was all wonderful.

Delicious gluten free pasta. Salad without croutons with blue cheese dressing was also great!

No. Just no. This place is a joke for gluten free. Its perfect for the fad dieters. When I asked to speak to the manager about how food is prepared and handled, he was completely rude and stand offish. I would feel safer eating at McDonalds!

Clueless about cross contamination. Left without ordering due to lack of knowledge.

We struggled with ordering our meal gluten free as they do not have clear reference on their main menus and they do not have a gf menu. the waiter was obviously uninformed about gluten free eating as he brought us salads with croutons on them and offered us a preview of their dessert tray when they have only one gf dessert. The gf pasta was under cooked and tough to eat. We did not want to make a spectacle out of ourselves so other than a pile of croutons on our napkins, wee said nothing. We won't be going back.

I visited this place on a recommendation from a fellow Celiac friend. It was very good. I really enjoyed it. It is really nice to have options even though I have Celiacs. Also, they have gluten free carrot cake for dessert. I hear it is really good, l personally am not a carrot cake fan so I didn't try it. I didn't have any contamination issues.

The Black Olive offers a 10 inch gluten free pizza and gluten free pasta. I picked the chicken gorgonzola sauce over spaghetti and it was wonderful!
