This was recommended by a celiac friend, so while a diff friend was visiting (we’re both celiac), we decided to check it out. They do have a several, clearly-marked GF options (though only 2 GF menus), but I would urge caution. My friend and I both ordered the pan-seared chicken with mash and greens. When the dish arrived, the whole meal was served in a large bowl with gravy poured over everything.

We were both worried about the gravy, which smelled like it had a vinegary, teriyaki base, so we asked our server about it—especially since the gravy wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu in the description of the dish.

Our server was very curt and insisted it was fine and safe to eat. My friend and I were both wary. I ate a bit more than she did, but I didn’t eat more than a few bites. The food was room temp and the mash was quite gummy/gluey—either very over-mixed or fake potatoes with too much starch added.

My friend was smart in choosing not to eat any of the meal—I ended up getting very sick. This is the first time since moving to the UK where I was given incorrect info about the food from the restaurant staff.

I don’t know how the other dishes compare, and though they offer GF fish and chips, I don’t know whether there’s a separate fryer. We may have gone on an off-day, as my local celiac friend has eaten there many times. I may try it out again and update my review, but I first need to recover.

If you do end up eating here—and to be fair, the atmosphere and outdoor space are fab—just be sure to get confirmation about your food from the kitchen staff. If the wait staff insists it’s fine, tell them you need explicit confirmation from the kitchen.
