As someone who is only gluten sensitive, not Celiac, I definitely got sick both times I ate here. The second time at least the front counter guy warned me it wasn’t safe for allergies, but I figured I’d risk it again because the crepes are just so gooooood and maybe it was just a coincidence the first time. Unfortunately now my insides feel like they’ve been scraped out with a spoon like gutting a pumpkin. But at least the crepe was delicious!

Can’t pass up gf crepes. Tried both savory and sweet and they were all excellent. Be sure to state gf and ask to have the surface cleaned to help avoid cc.

We love making crepes and after opening our shop 4yrs ago, we quickly realized the need for GF sensitive crepes. We use Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 Baking Flour for all of our GF batters.
Attention! Request to have the griddles wiped if you are very sensitive. (We wipe the surface with water and we are aware that cross contamination is still there, please order at your own risk)
Our intention was to offer an option for those that are sensitive to gluten, if that’s you, try our sweet or savory crepes (some have slight modification in order to use the GF batter)
Although this place only has two or three cook tops for the crêpes, if you tell them you’re celiac, they’ll thoroughly wipe one down before starting yours. The surface isn’t porous, and they know what they’re doing. As someone who’s super sensitive to cross contamination, I’ve eaten here 6+ times and never gotten sick.
The Crepe Shop had delicious crepes and they have gluten free batter available. Their crepe griddles are shared so they cannot guarantee no cross contamination. However, if you let them know you have celiac/a gluten allergy, they will clean the grill immediately prior to making your order to reduce any issues. They are also knowledgeable about what else you can/can't eat (for example, the Mornay sauce is a no go). I have celiac and have never had an issue here. The owners and staff are great and the coffee is good too. Highly recommended neighborhood restaurant.

I called ahead of time and asked if the gluten free crepes are made on a separate surface from regular crepes - he clearly stated without hesitation that no, they are all made on the same griddle.

Crepes are delicious and definitely gluten free, first time in many years I’ve been able to have one. Would definitely return on our next visit to Chicago.

GLUTEN FREE CREPES!
This place is like a dream come true for me. I didn’t ask about their preparation, but clearly they’re doing things right because I didn’t get sick, despite being extremely sensitive. You can substitute gluten free crepe batter for any crepe on the menu.
Yes
While I should have been more careful on the contamination risk, I went ahead and ate and had delicious GF crepes. they knew about ingredients of other things and what would/wouldn't be safe (e.g.no Mornay sauce). I enjoyed my crepes very much.
