We pulled off the highway on I-81 thinking that the Dutch Pantry would be a country-style restaurant. It turns out that they are a small grocery store and deli, and we almost left assuming that the deli wouldn't have any gluten free options. Thankfully we wandered to the back and discovered a small table covered with gluten free baked goods - pumpkin bread, banana muffins, lemon cake - and a freezer case with loaves of locally made gluten free bread. The kind lady behind the counter was more than happy to use the gluten free bread from the freezer for our two rubens, and we offered to buy the rest of the loaf. She priced our sandwiches accordingly. We stocked up on baked goods, deli meats, and cheese for the rest of our trip and were thrilled to have found such a delicious gem in rural southwest Virginia.
