Unfortunately the server we had was not knowledgeable and told me that their rice was indeed gluten free. I started to eat the chicken kabobs and rice and then started to have a headache and stomach cramping afterwards.
I ended up finding out after looking on here and another review that their rice is definitely NOT gluten free.
I was planning to call the manager when it wasn’t a busy night to see if they can help me educate their staff better.

I called ahead and was immediately assured that they could accommodate GF. She mentioned the salads and bowl and that other items could be modified (omitting pita). We ended up eating here twice because the location and atmosphere was enjoyable and entertaining. The first time our server wasn’t very knowledgeable and kept confusing GF with vegan. However, she did suggest the gyro bowl so I ordered that and had her note a gluten allergy for the kitchen. The second time our server was TERRIBLE (in general, but especially with GF knowledge). She kept coming back with conflicting info about what I could and couldn’t eat. At one point she told me I just shouldn’t order anything but later mentioned the bowl and salads as options. I ordered the bowl again, noting GF. I didn’t have any noticeable reaction but I’d recommend if you go to speak directly to a manager or chef to get a straight answer as their wait staff is very poorly trained.

I went to Greektown hoping to find something Celiac safe on a whim - there was one review here so decided to try. I had asked about many items on the menu including the lemon potatoes. I asked our sever to check if the potatoes were cooked with a chicken broth that was gluten free - the chef confirmed the potatoes ARE made with a broth that has wheat, they also cook the rice in the same broth sadly, so was not able to have a gyro bowl, maybe that changed since the last review. So I settled on a chicken kabob (they said cooked on the charbroiler) with veggies and tzatziki, I have added a photo below. Both were very good and I did not get sick, posting this 3 days later. I am not sure that they were any kind of allergy experts, this place does have gluten and a bar atmosphere, but I will take a win in the form of being able to eat out and not get sick while visiting Detroit. Just make sure you ask all the questions and I think you can make this spot work!

The Greek is a great little spot. Owners and staff and very friendly and accommodating, especially for allergies. They have amazing rice bowls, Gyro meat and salads. Frequently eat here and do not get sick.
