The Melting Pot

We had good experiences here for gluten free food for Celiac daughter in the past but today we had a terrible experience. My husband repeatedly told them to bring GF food and my celiac daughter noticed a piece of pasta in her garden veggie pot. They said it was gluten pasta and made her a new one. But now she does not feel safe eating here ever again. Very disappointing.

This is not only one of my favorite chains, but my favorite store in the chain.

Before I say anything else, I have to admit that I did get sick here once. As someone else noted, they have gluten free brownies as part of the dessert dipper, but once a server gave me regular brownies by mistake. Because a regular brownie looks and tastes pretty much the same as the GF version, we didn't realize until I had eaten several bites, at which point the waiter--who had realized his mistake--ran up to the table, saw the brownies had been eaten, and went pale. I ended up sick for 6 weeks as a result of that incident.

The reason this Melting Pot is my favorite and the reason I eat there much more often than I did before the incident is because of how they handled it. First, the manager waved all the charges for our table that night (about $175). Then he gave me a $100 gift card as an apology. Later, I learned the resturant had held a staff training about handling gluten free food and such to make sure this didn't happen again.

Since that one incident, I've had no problems and always had a wonderful experience. I have tried other Melting Pot branches and not seen the kind of care and concern I can now expect at the West Madison branch. Love this place!

I have celiacs. Everything tasted delicious. They were out of GF bread but had the GF brownies. The reason I am rating this a one is because I was sick within 20 minutes of leaving the place. I did not share a pot with gluten items. So I'm not sure if there was cross contamination with the food I got or all the items I ordered weren't truly GF.

My favorite place! The GF bread for the cheese is amazing!! They also have GF brownies and cake for the chocolate!

The GF bread for dipping is better than the non-gf bread!

Never on my radar, BUT I read an article by Gluten Free Dad about how it is Gluten free safe spot certified by an independent company. We were surprised at how well versed the employees were the variety offered. So far no one has gotten sick. Everything is brought/made in front of you by you and everything was labeled on the menu. The dessert was the best! GF brownie and cookie that weren’t hard as a rock. I doubled checked with the waitress every time and she wasn’t annoyed by my questions!

The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had. Almost all of the cheeses could be made gluten-free, they had gluten-free bread to dip in the cheese, and gluten-free brownies and snickerdoodles to dip in the chocolate. Amazing experience and didn’t get sick!

Menu has labels for GF options. When I’m able to have an appetizer, main course AND dessert at dinner I appreciate it. They have GF bread for cheese dip appetizers. And GF brownies for chocolate dip dessert and (for a small up charge) macarons! Don’t sleep on The Melting Pot!

Our waiter seem very well informed. He reviewed the menu with me to ensure that I knew what could be offered gluten-free as food came out to the table. They confirmed what was gluten-free. We had our own pot to cook in separate to the people that we were with, I would definitely eat here again
