Went to the the Mission Inn restaurant earlier today and talked to manager and head chef. Specifically advised that their pasta could be substituted and safe for celiac child. Made reservations w celiac in the notes. Showed up and alerted the hostess, who assured us she would talk to chef. Alerted server, and advised that we would order the exact pasta dish that they recommended. Told him pasta must be cooked separately in new water and separate pot. He assured me that that is exactly what they do.

Food arrives. Child is halfway through penne pasta and shows me the BIG LONG GLUTEN linguini noodle mixed in with her food. No doubt she will be vomiting all night here on our weekend vacation.

The manager wants to send security for me to fill out a form, and although takes off my child’s diner, charges me for our dinners.

NOT SAFE!!!!

There are a few restaurants at Mission Inn and I’ve had great experiences at most of them. I recently went to Las Campanas and before we sat, I told the hostess that I have CD and asked if they have gf options. She assured me that they take it very seriously. As we walked to our table, she told me that the refried beans and Spanish rice likely contain gluten and to avoid them. She recommended substituting with whole pinto beans and their saffron rice. Also, they don’t have a dedicated fryer so I had to avoid the tortilla chips. I ordered the fish tacos and the server took precautions to ask the chef to heat my corn tortillas separately, on a separate cook top. Food was delicious and safe!

Ate at Las Campana at Mission Inn, last night. Server took extra precautions about my meal and margarita. She asked questions of the cooks to be sure. Food was delicious and I did not get sick!

called 2 weeks ahead and left 2 messages requesting call back from the chef about gluten free options and never received a call back. The server when we dined was very attentive and indicated she alerted the kitchen staff to the need for gluten free. Unfortunately, I was severely glutened and still feeling unwell now 3 days later.

Today, I visited their champagne brunch. After I discussed my allergy and expressed my concerns with my waitress, she brought out the head chef. The chef offered to make me a meal to ensure my safety. I had a chicken salad and the food, presentation, and thoughtfulness is just evidence of their superior customer service. The chef returned after I was done eating to ensure that my experience was positive.
