We enjoyed a lovely 2-night stay at the Parsonage in April 2023. Shelly, the innkeeper, does a terrific job providing delicious breakfasts for people with a wide range of allergy requirements. She doesn’t advertise that the Parsonage is safe for celiacs because her kitchen is too small to absolutely guarantee against cross-contamination, but her knowledge of the GF diet (and how to avoid cross-contamination) is complete, and I felt entirely safe eating everything she served. The butter and marmalade she put in front of me, for instance, was from newly opened containers and scooped onto the serving dishes with freshly washed utensils.
Another benefit of staying at the Parsonage, for celiacs who don’t mind gaining a few pounds, is that it’s just half a block away from a certified gluten-free bakery. That said, if you stay anywhere in downtown STM, you’re only a short walk from that bakery…and everything else.
We stayed in Room 1 (a.k.a. the Parsons’s Study) and recommend it for its comfy king-sized bed, cozy furnishings, and windows on three sides of the room. The only drawback is that it faces Talbot Street, the busiest road in STM. Fortunately, the Parsonage has many charming rooms that don’t face the street, so don’t let road noise dissuade you.
