The Pennant

This is my second time back to The Pennant in a week. It has the best gluten free burger I’ve ever had and I didn’t get sick! I’m not from Topeka but I would return for this burger anytime.

How confident are you that this establishment takes safety precautions against cross-contact?

How would you rate the taste and quality of the gluten-free food you tried?

— Excellent

Tried 4 times and 2 times got sick... 50% success rate is NOT good. They need training on cross contamination. Plus the food is very expensive. We'll go for the games only for now on.

Celiac friendly?

No

They advertise gluten free buns from Shana Cakes-which are great. They have, however, been “out” 3 out of the 4 last times I have been which is annoying. Especially because Shana Cakes is literally a quarter mile form them to restock.

Hamburgers are nice and thick. Vanilla shake had to much whipped froth on top for our tastes and overpriced for what it was. Other shakes have more vanilla taste than this one. Good the gluten free bun came out as ordered. Coke measurements were off and even when she tried to readjust the settings, it still didn't have the typical fizz and flavor of coca cola. We'll eat elsewhere next time

I went on opening day, so the menu was limited, but they did have local Shana Cakes gf buns for the burgers. I have also seen on their facebook that they will have quite a few gf options once they begin serving their full menu. Until the end of March (or a little before) they are serving a limited menu so I cannot be sure of their full offerings. Their vanilla shakes are to die for!!!
