You guys! You have to try The Wooden Crate at Lumeria. Maui peeps, kama’aina night is Thursday night—20% off. Chef Michael will be returning to Boulder in a couple weeks, and I’m sure they’ve got another good chef coming, but you will LOVE this guy’s cooking. My second time in a couple weeks, just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. As delicious as any fine cuisine on the island, and fresh, local, and healthy, too! I’m gluten-sensitive and avoid dairy but had not a worry here and did not need to sacrifice taste. I always forget to photograph my food. Too excited about eating it! But check out Arlene’s salad, our first course, with such a yummy creamy (almond cream?) turmeric-spiced dressing I wanted to lick the plate. The grilled marlin was moist and flaky, with delicious seasonings and perfectly paired with the purple sweet potato mash (hint of coconut cream and toasted mac nuts) and the braised bok choy (soy sauce, ginger, garlic). Two fresh healthy choices for dessert: mango chia pudding and lime-avocado mousse. I got the pudding and it was delicious but had regrets when I tried the lime-avocado mousse my friends ordered. Divine! We also had glasses of white wine, tea, and kombucha. You can’t go wrong at The Wooden Crate!
