I've eaten at $3 Dewey's many times, I have celiac disease so I have to eat gluten free. I have never had the slightest amount of sickness. Their french fries are gluten-free and phenomenal. They have gluten-free buns for the burgers. Awesome food. Every time I go through Portland I stop at $3 Dewey's.

Safe and delicious experience here. Mayo based lobster roll on GF bread was very good, but the fries (GF frier) stole the show. Alex at the bar took care to make sure my meal was safe.

REALLY GOOD, but we caught them on a weird day. Our waitress told us from the start that they were low staffed. Our service was not the level as expected from these other great review. The gluten free items were labeled well, but our waitress seemed uninformed on many of them. I got the bowl of beef chili with corn chips and a side of fries. For a drink, I tried the UFF dry cider, which was a lovely tart flavor. My dinner guests greatly enjoyed their meals as well. My only complaint was that the place was FREEZING cold.

Heard about their gf fryer and bread options and was driving thru the area and had to check them out. B Husband had the lobster roll on a gf bun and I had the Turkey club in gf bread and neither of those meals disappointed! The fries were amazing and we even got some to go. Our waitress Kristy took our allergy seriously and said she’d alert the kitchen and that we came to the right place! Our only issue was that the vent was above us and was blowing the entire time but the place was jam packed with people so it was certainly needed. A little loud but that’s to be expected at a place with a mug club and a deeeecent happy hour!

They were so attentive and kind. Dedicated fryer as others have said and made all our sides using the GF fryer. They swap gloves and clean when handling GF food. It was such a relief and the food was great.

I felt pretty safe here! The server was very warm and positive when I told her I had celiac, and she said the cooks change their gloves whenever there’s an order for someone with celiac. There is a dedicated gf fryer on the premises. The French fries were delicious. I think they give you extra if you order the gf bun on a burger, which is good because it’s very small. The burgers are so huge I had to eat mine with a fork and knife! They have a mocktail menu (as a non drinker: THANK YOU) and are also intentionally inclusive of other allergies and vegetarian and vegan diets.

Dedicated gluten free fryer, GF hamburger bun was good! Waitress came back to tell me the pulled pork that was supposed to be on my burger was not GF so I substituted with bacon. Very good!

I communicated I had a gluten allergy and the waitress excitedly told me that the fries are gluten free and in a dedicated fryer!! I was ecstatic because fries are my favorite food and it is something I can rarely have in restaurants. I went back a second time on my 4-day trip for a salad and fries and it was equally as delicious. Favorite Portland restaurant!

Had turkey club on gf roll and fries. No sickness issues at all. I can’t have gluten or dairy and it was easily accommodated. Server was knowledgeable and friendly. They have a dedicated fryer for fries.

Our waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten and informed us there's a separate fryalator for gluten free items. I got the Haddock Rachel which is a blackened haddock on what appeared to be Scharr deli sandwich bread, with some fixings and it came with french fries. Everything was delicious and I don't feel sick at all!

Feelin like I was in Gaston’s Tavern 🍻 Just kidding… but the food was probably just as good! I got the Ruben sandwich on GF bread with FRIES!!!! Dedicated fryers are *insert angels singing here*. I would totally come back here again if I come back in town! Food is very reasonable and the staff is great! Usually isn’t very busy around lunch time, so it would be a good time to stop by! Highly recommend!

Ordered a gluten free bun for the burger. When it came out, we questioned whether the bun was GF. The server said I don’t know and walked away. We had to stop another server who confirmed it was not a GF Bun.

Delicious dinner here. The menu was clearly marked If the item was available GF, they have a dedicated fryer. We had GF nachos (not loaded) and it was a huge portion. 4-6 people could easily share as an appetizer. I had the smoked turkey club with fries. No cross contamination- I would have been deathly ill by now. This place is a winner!

A big treat was the horse hanging out by the front door when we left. I guess a patron regularly arrives by horse and the horse chills on the sidewalk.

A buried treasure chest in downtown Portland! Coming here regularly in the early 80’s, I couldn’t believe Deweys could accommodate me and my daughter safely; boy was I wrong!!!

I had a lobstah roll on a gluten-free bun and it was beyond ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

My daughter had a bacon cheeseburger that was equally as yummy!

Not to mention the service provided by a local gem, Joselyn! She became a trusted friend by the end of our visit💞

This place is amazing!! So many gluten free items as well as vegetarian and vegan choices. The menu is clearly labeled and our server made note of the items my daughter and I ordered as we have celiac disease. They have a dedicated fryer and the sweet potato puffs were amazing. It took a bit longer than expected to receive our food but it was worth the wait!! Would definitely go back!!

Very knowledgeable staff. Nachos were gf and there was gf bread for the smoked turkey BLT!

This is my favorite restaurant in Portland! I especially love that they have a GF and vegan menu because I’m also vegan and their food is so delicious. My favorite is the tofu and avocado sandwich. I feel very safe eating here.

10 out of 10 would reccomend, staff was awesome and food was great! They have a dedicated Vegan and Gluten Free Fryer! Also their cocktails are freaking good too.

Service was great, chef cooked all sides at our table in the dedicated GF fryer Incase we wanted to share without being asked. So many GF options on the menu and food was super tasty. Got to enjoy the pub experience with friends. 👍🏻

Had the 8 oz cheeseburger and fries on gf bun burger was huge and overflowed the bun and plate full of fries my wife had pulled pork which I was told is not gf and we both left stuffed
