Consistent! The waiters are kind when I ask for gluten free options and kitchen safety. I lived in Texas for 7 years, so my standard is little high for tex mex/mexican food. This place is the best I’ve had in pgh since moving back. The queso is the best I’ve had in pgh and genuinely better than a bunch of good restaurants in Texas. I’ve eaten here many times and never felt sick!!!

very good and large portions! the menu isn’t marked but the wait staff said anything can be made gf! the staff was very knowledgeable and wore gloves while handling food to our table and my gf plate was kept separate from the other plates. no reaction!

Homemade blue corn tortillas stuffed with a menagerie of ingredients made for an evening of gluttony without fear of getting sick. If I lived in Pittsburgh this would become a regular place for me. If you find yourself in Shadyside you must try the tacos.

Tocayo is great! Lots of corn-based tacos rather than flour-based which is nice.

Tocayo is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh. Their blue corn tortillas and corn tortillas are gluten free. There are a number of tacos made with corn tortillas on their menu. They have a dedicated fryer! We got take out and I noted gluten free on my entree. I failed to note it on the appetizer. The manager caught it and told me about their dedicated fryer.

I went with a friend for lunch and we both had excellent meals. My waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and food preparation and suggested modifications to make my tostada salad gluten and dairy free. He indicated that the corn chips and tostadas are fried in a dedicated fryer. The guacamole and my salad were delicious.

Staff is very knowledgeable about gluten and the kitchen can take allergen precautions. The chips have a dedicated fryer; I love to come for their happy hour and just get chips and queso/salsa and margs (which are great here), and sometimes get tacos as well.

Servers were very knowledgable about Celiac/cross contamination! Tortillas are made in the morning before glutenous items are put in the fryer. Shrimp normally comes breaded, but they pan fried shrimp for me. Food and drinks were delicious.
