Awesome selection!! :) they even have gluten free ready made dough and their gluten free ginger snaps are delicious! HINT!!! Be sure to ask for a gluten free map!! Tells you where everything is!
Items that are usually gluten free, like risotto and polenta, have gluten ingredients. Wheat is not always identified as an allergen, so you have to read the whole list every time. New blueberry muffins are delicious, though. Keep trying, TJ's. Maybe hire an expert on the prepared-foods side?
Yes!!!! Shop here for AFFORDABLE gfree!! However, you need to read the labels as many of the items marked gfree by TJ's green labels are subject to cross contamination. I especially like: usi's bagels, crispy chocolate chip cookies, brown rice pasta, olive oil potato chips, risotto, quinoa, frozen waffles.
I love my local Trader Joe's!! They have a clearly marked end cap with several gluten free items, plus they will provide you with a printed out list of ALL there products that are gluten free. They were so kind to refund/exchange some of the non perishable, unopened (obviously) items I purchased before being put on this FODMAP diet by my Dr. I appreciate that they also have a lot of organic produce and other organic items (eggs, peanut butter, cheese, gluten free pasta). Friendly, convenient one stop shop, yeay!
This place isn't good for gluten free or health in general. They should be called Sugar Joe's because there is sugar in every single product. Today I went to the Trader Joe's in Westfield and a cashier was very nasty to me. When I reported to management the answer I got was "She was having a bad day." So, I have to be a scapegoat for her crap?! When my grandmother died, I was a waitress and I was nothing but NICE to people. And if DEATH isn't a bad day, I don't know what is!! Then I went to CORPORATE and they blew me off, like my complaint wasn't legitimate! I have no respect for management at Trader Joe's and the next time anyone mistreats me in their store they will hear from my lawyer! I did not need that stress! I am a heart patient!!!!
Love Trader Joes. Do the bulk of my GF shopping here. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because GF listing is incorrect. When I contacted the main office, they were very rude and unwilling to listen to the fact that "prepared on equipment that processes wheat" means a person needing to medically maintain a GF diet cannot eat it. That's not GF.
Trade Joe's is my go to place for Gluten Free and Soy based products. The quality and prices can't be beat compared to other big box stores. The selection in terms of GF may seem limited to some, but the fact that I can just walk in a pickup an item that I can actually eat. Plus, if you are sure if something is gluten free or vegan, the item is clearly marked by a sign and the staff is always friendly and happy to help. Just double check the labels on the chips though. It may be marked GF, but lists that is was made on the same processing machine as non-GF goods.
Disappointed in the limited GF selection, but more disappointed when I read the label on blue corn chips that were "tagged" as Gluten Free and the label had a warning that they were made on the same machinery as wheat products (sigh). So much for trusting their "GF" labels...make sure you still read the product labels! :(
When I was speaking to an emyee they werevery helpful, but read labels carefully. I got corn chips thinking 'oh those are safe' and ended up reading later that they were processed with the same equipment that processes wheat. Other then that, pretty good offerings.
They have Udi's on the shelf, and gf products here and there(Mac n cheese, pasta, pizza, cookies). Small selection, but decent for the size if the location.
The taco seasoning is the best! Plus it doesn't have all those additives. You only need half a package for one pound of meat. Also, the rice pasta is packaged per pound. It's the cheapest gluten free pasta in town.
TJs has a lot of GF options from breads, pastas, snacks and meats. Labels clearly indicate if item is GF. The prices are great and the employees are always amazing! Thanks, TJs!
Had an absolutely terrible experience trying to shop at this trader joes. Their gluten free products are mixed through out the store and when I asked about it an employee offered to get me a list of them and then walked off and never came back. Also: they make a bunch of their hummus and bean dips with wheat additives. Really disappointing. I will stick to whole foods from now on.
I thought TJs was awesome until I realized tons of the items on their gf list are produced on the same equipment as wheat products. Had to give my soy milk away when I saw it was processed on the same equipment as wheat. They have some great options but I will always double check this part of the label from now on!
This is my favorite grocery store! There are so many options and the staff is well trained and helpful. They have lists available for any restrictions you might have (gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, etc) and will give you a copy if you ask any staff member. Great prices on quality produce and products. I never shop anywhere else!
They have no variety. Disorganized. And unprofessional type of environment. Also the cost is no less than its competitors.
The gluten free pre-made brownies are amazing!! So many options of gluten free. The mini tamales are another great item from there. My favorite place to shop for food. Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. They even have a list of what's gluten free. A lot of the shelves are already marked with a gluten free sign so it saves time from reading all the ingredients. One of the ladies working had celiacs and recommended a lot of the products in the store that she liked.
3 words. Gluten free cupcakes.
