For an abridged review, I can sum up my thoughts as follows: if you're a big fan of Spacca Napoli, it's definitely worth giving Tre Soldi a try. And if you've never even heard of Spacca Napoli, then you're in for a treat as Tre Soldi also excels at making gluten-free italian food taste MAGNIFICENT, and also serve it with the respect it deserves!!Now for the detailed review....Having recently enjoyed the high-quality gluten-free pizza from Spacca Napoli, I was eager to find a place that was comparable -- and I was pleasantly surprised to find something similar rather close to the Loop. I immediately gathered together a group of fellow gluten-free diner and set off to explore much of what Tre Soldi had to offer.The restaurant was highly accessible given its great location, and the interior decoration was elegant enough for a semi-formal gathering. The menu made mention of the gluten-free pizza but little else -- it was truly the work of the committed and knowledgeable staff that helped clarify which menu options were naturally GF (most of the antipasti), and what could be made GF (the pasta). Our waiter, as well as the owner himself, were both extremely enthusiastic and passionate about gluten-free eats, and made us feel quite welcomed! They explained how the GF pizza and pasta dough was made in-house using their own special blend of alternative flours,... a great departure from other commercial pizzerias that get their [token] GF pizza crusts from third party vendors. They also assured us of the separate kitchen area and oven that they used to prevent cross-contamination issues, and it was very effective as no one in our group got sick. As if that wasn't enough, the menu offered a large variety of farm-to-table options, and the food in general had a high-quality look and taste to it.Regarding the pizza itself,... although it lacked the smoked goodness of a brick-fired crust, the crust was still light, crunchy and savory, and far FAR superior to any token GF pizza crust available at your local pizza chain. Besides, the fact that it was made with the utmost care and consideration for cross-contamination safety was its own much-appreciated "spice". It can also be said the ingredients OVER the pizza crust itself were superb, exuding rich tapestries of flavors, textures and aromas depending on the topping selection ordered! Other attendees tried non-pizza dishes such as pasta, polenta with vegetables, and chicken, and all reported positive experiences with those dishes. Dessert consisted of a Semifreddo chocolate cake with raspberry and berries, all 100% naturally-flourless (given its flan-like properties) -- it was not only blissfully-delectable, but it felt light and nourishing as well (unlike your standard flour dessert that makes you feel bloated and regretful afterwards). In summary, the food was fantastic, but it was the easy accessibility and superior service that truly made Tre Soldi shine for us! This hidden gem deserves our utmost recognition for its brilliant efforts at servicing gluten-free diners!
