Tremont Tavern

Our waitress was down right hostile when I asked about gluten free. She refused to even check on certain items. She told me there was nothing there gluten free and said “look, this is NOT a gluten free friendly place”. A friend of my husband’s wanted to take us out to eat there or I would have left. I ordered a dip and asked if the bread could be substituted with veggies and she told me they had no veggies expect some celery from the bar even though my salad I ordered had cut veggies in it. I said fine I’ll take the celery. When the dip came out it had bread stuck in the top of it and around it with a side cup of celery. She said she was sure none of the salad dressings were gluten free, I asked again nicely if she could check with the kitchen. She sighed loudly and said okay. Turns out all the dressings were gluten free she just didn’t want to bother to ask. They do have gluten free beer on the menu so I don’t think I was the first person to ever come in there requesting gluten free.

Good food- not food allergy friendly! If you are ok with lots of cross contamination then you should give this place a try but for serious food allergies I recommend finding somewhere else to eat. Great atmosphere.
