Huge selection on the menu, all food is locally and seasonally inspired (and delicious), and my waitress was very attentive and assured me that everyone in kitchen was careful to avoid cross-contamination. Would definitely go back!!
Very gf friendly. Great food. A little pricey but you get what you pay for.
There are several GF options, from appetizers to entrees to desserts. All options are clearly labeled on the main menu and the staff are highly conscientious of GF needs. Food was very fresh, healthy and flavorful. And the flourless chocolate cake hit the sweet spot.
Love it. Great location, stellar service, wonderful array of healthy amazing food. Great consideration of food allergies.
Always fantastic! Great gluten free options and never feel guilty as all if the food is fresh and healthy. I can't wait to get a True Foods at home.
The gluten free menu is great and the selection is diverse. From the quinoa inside out burger to the gf pizza to the lemon tart dessert, this restaurant is a must visit.
Amazing menu with safe, delicious gf options! Excellent knowledgable server too.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant! I love the turkey lasagna! It is gluten free and absolutely delicious! If you are over 21 the cucumber/fruit margarita! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Bison burger on gf crust with kale salad and sweet potato hash = awesome! Service was excellent! Waiter caught that my burger had mayo (and I had asked for none) before I did!
Love true food. They have a great menu and they are super careful about gluten free and dairy free. They always do a great job accommodating me. I've had their GF vegan pizza and eaten here for breakfast and everything was delicious.
Amazing good and great GF options
The servers are SO knowledgeable I feel celiac safe here!
The hardest thing about True Food is they have very few options that are vegan AND gluten free, the menu is ok but not great
Lettuce cups...awesome Everything else on the menu...you must have once. Great service. Comfortable atmosphere. And oh yeah...it's popular among the locals. Always a good sign!!
My favorite GF restaurant. Many GF dishes and a tasty rotating seasonal menu. GF desserts. Good cocktails. Everything I've tried has been good.
Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. But most important I had the best gluten free pizza I have ever eatten at True Foods.
Omg it is good! The girls had the grilled chicken with watermelon and corn. My husband had the curry and it was mild. I had the spaghetti squash casserole with grilled chicken. We all had honey lemonade. And we are having the lemon chia cake for dessert. Awesome options!
AWESOME gf choices on their menu! I try to get something different every time I go but the Panang Chicken Curry soup ALWAYS just screams to me from the menu! I get it without rice to cut the carbs. I have had the spaghetti squash spaghetti and loved it. We had a waiter once tell us that the dessert that's tart and has buckthorne was one that was always being sent back as people don't really like it. Well I tried it on the next visit anyway and LOVED it! I'm more of a 'tart' flavor person, and the coconut whipped cream on it YUMMM!!!! My favorite dessert ever! My guys always get the no-grain chocolate cake a la mode. It's pretty darned good, especially if you are a chocolate person! (I'm not so much) Most of the staff is somewhat cordial, we seem to notice that there is kind of an air of stand-offishness or lacking enthusiasm with most of the waitstaff we've experienced (not tons of smiling - and the last time we kept having to flag our waiter down because he was busy chatting with the other servers instead of checking on us - the time before that they kept forgetting to bring my fresh juice and it wasn't busy but they did not charge me for it due to the wait). Not sure if it's an individual personality thing or just an untrained wait staff, where costumer service is concerned. They need to step up the friendliness factor in this part of town. Not sure if it's the time we go, or what, but we've never waited more than a few minutes to be seated. Despite the lackadaisical attitude of the waitstaff, we love this place and their awesome menu and we keep going back. The rating is for their menu and actual food.
Wow! The food and service quality (Dallas) are amazing. I had the Kale and Avocado Dip w/ the most amazing GF Pita Chips; and the Street Tacos (listed as GF) on the menu. Chase, my server, is very knowledgable about the menu. The manager brought my food. I spoke with Chef Kevin who said there is a separate area of the kitchen for gluten free prep. Items like buns and pizza crusts are brought in from GF specialty vendors; as a safeguard against cross contamination. And, those items are individually wrapped. I will definitely return again this week do dinner!
This place was wonderful!!! The server really made me feel safe from cross contamination, he made great recommendations. We split papaya salad, we had grass fed steak tacos, seared tuna wrap all GF. For dessert we had a gf chia seed lemon cake. Lots of choices for dinner and dessert.
Awesome food! A friend and I went for the first time. We were impressed from the ambience, the waitstaff, to the fresh food. We had the Spontaneous Happiness drink and enjoyed it with our starter: Edemame Dumplings that melted in your mouth. Entrees: Red Curry Shrimp noodles and Chicken and Sausage Pizza -- delicious!! Dessert: Super Berry tart with a buckthorn antioxidant- very refreshing! Thanks to our waiter Joseph who recommend all of the items! You will not be disappointed!
Although the kitchen isn't completely gluten free they are very aware and knowledgable. The salads are amazing ( try the Mediterranean chopped), they have gluten free bread for sandwiches, and they have several gluten free desserts!! The food is very good.
I got super insanely sick here. Found out later that they cooked gluten free noodles in the regular pasta water. Manager apologized and promised they'd change their practices but a friend overheard them complaining later that someone with celiac shouldn't be ordering (gluten free?) noodles anyway. Not impressed in the least.
anti inflammatory menu that uses biodynamic, locally sourced food does not sound cheap, and it's not! however ive learned eating responsibly comes at a cost. putting price aside the food is quite good. lots of GF options and delicious concoctions for drinks. service is patchy and the location is at Lenox mall means getting there is a huge pain. definitely a must try for GF folks and ppl who understand the true cost of food.
In town for a conference. Loved the curry and juice options!
Lots of GF options listed on the menu along with other trendy dietary adaptations. I did call ahead to confirm they have arrangements in the kitchen to accommodate someone with celiac disease and was assured that they take precautions (considering it is not a GF kitchen). My daughter ordered the turkey lasagna and became ill about 20 minutes after leaving restaurant. Was it the lasagna or the dirty glass in which was served her pricey lemonade (realized about halfway through)?? Food was tasty but overpriced ($42 for two for lunch before tip), communication via phone was convoluted, and worst of all, my daughter got gluten in a restaurant that one would hope would be above average in handling these concerns.
Mediocre food and service.
Great food, but i did get sick once eating here, we couldnt figure out what did it. maybe it was the water they used to boil the lasagna?
AWESOME place to eat! Staff was so friendly and knowledgeable, food was fresh and healthy which is so rare eating out anymore. And no gluten issues afterward!
I love the clean, fresh food and they always have a good selection of tasty GF choices. Their kale-ade is my favorite of their drinks. I'm a highly sensitive Celiac who tends to get cross-contaminated sick at even typically "trusted" places. I've eaten here at least six times so far & haven't once gotten ill. I love it.
Traveling through and saw the good reviews. Tacos are amazing! They also have gf pita with the hummus! I'm sensitive and didn't get sick. Will be back if I'm ever in San Diego again
One of my favorite restaurants in SD...food is always fresh & delish!
Kind of hit or miss. Ive had things I loved and things that were just okay. Menu os seasonal so options change. But it's always fresh and staff is usually helpful. I've never had a reaction after eating here.
I rarely eat out. I have celiac, and am extremely sensitive, as well as very careful to avoid cross contamination -- whether I feel it or not. Damaging my health is not worth a night out. That said, I've visited both Santa Monica True Food, and Newport Beach, and they've both been the best experiences I've ever had dining out as a celiac. I understand that they have partially dedicated spaces for GF food prep, and always dedicated utensils. Certainly Newport assured me of this, and the server in Santa Monica made sure to take extra notes, and passed a note on to the chef. They make excellent pizza -- I loved the Roasted Kale and Tomato. Best GF I've had. But the Salmon, as well as the Curry, are also well worth a bite. A bit pricey, but if you're going to eat out, let it be eating well. Portions are plenty, staff are knowledgeable, atmosphere is peaceful (in Santa Monica -- a bit loud in Newport); and they're highly aware of issues with cross-contact. The safest one could be in a non-dedicated kitchen, without a doubt.
