My husband and I are strictly gluten free as we are both gluten intolerant. You can imagine my surprise when we found this restaurant on our one night romantic getaway.

We walked into the restaurant a little bit before the dinner rush. There were only about 2 to 3 tables in the bar area that were occupied when we arrived. It took 15 minutes for a waitress to come greet us after a very cold hostess seated us and brought us water and when the waitress finally did greet us, it was my husband and I who had to say "could we maybe start with a drink order?" as our waitress wanted to "give us a few more minutes".

The food arrived out to the table fairly quick. We ordered the hummus plate and calamari to start with along with a side ceaser salad and two orders of fish and chips. All gluten free, of course. The calamari was limp and a bit lackluster especially for the $9 price tag and was served with tartar sauce and while we both understand that tartar sauce is considered the American standard, being offered tzatziki which is a bit more traditional would've been great especially since it is served on one of their burgers.

The fish was cooked great and the fries were fantastic. You could tell that the chef really cared about their gluten free food tasting as authentic or as close to the non-gluten-free version as possible. Unfortunately, no matter how good the food is however, it just cannot make up for the rest of the experience.

To say that the service left us feeling empty and undesired would be an understatement. It became pretty clear pretty early on in the dinner that we were not a "regular" or one of the pretty "Abercrombie and Fitch" people that apparently the staff has grown accustomed to. The atmosphere was dark with heavy, weighing down music which might have been easier to handle or look past had it not been for the servers who just added to the whole unappealing feel.

My husband said it best when he said to me, after I had to ask our server for the bill, of course "we were happy when we came in here.. Let's get out of here and get back to being happy cause it's not going to happen here!"

As soon as we got back to our hotel room, unfortunately, both my husband and I were using our bathroom to pay our respects to the porcelain throne. It wasn't exactly screaming romance, if you get my drift and this wasn't a meal or experience either of us ever care to repeat.
