Menu needs update & staff needs training on options available. Spoke to Hyatt Regency food manager. Our travel agent booked us with our teen’s celiac in mind & surprised Menu had only hummus & fruit plate marked gluten free. Asked host if any other GF options (salads on menu were not marked GF) & was told no. Did not get table because did not appear anything son could eat. No other lunch options at resort so had delicious shave ice with ice cream nearby & moved up dinner reservation. Once kids back at pool learned from food manager that they have GF bread, buns, & will bake fries. Showed him that none of this is marked on menu & his staff is referencing the menu to inform guests. Otherwise a lovely resort experience, so I hope they fix this lunch option.

This used to be our go to place. Safe and lots of options. I can confirm that menu has changed drastically and this restaurant no longer offers the selection of Gluten Free options that they had in the past.

Pork nachos are amazing, can absolutely share between two people they are large. Staff if somewhat knowledgeable about GF items but some confusion between the tortilla chips, they are full corn and not mixed. Not sure about cross contamination.

Caution - ASK YOUR SERVER before you order! A few of the things marked gluten free on the menu aren't - the poke nachos have soy sauce in them. Caroline was great on helping me order a burger (cooked in separate pan) and fries (baked separately).

Overall safe. Not a ton on the menu that was gf and some items on the lunch menu were then not marked as gf on the dinner menu. After asking they assured us that the lunch menu was correct and went through the ingredients. Overall didn’t have an issue

The menu is marked. And many additional items are available with some modifications. Waitstaff was knowledgeable and made it easy.
The menu is clearly marked and the staff were happy to check with the kitchen on any questions I had. I had a great veggie burger with hummus on a GF bun and they had a good number of other GF options marked. None of their fried food is safe as the fryer is shared (they don’t claim that it is safe, just a note). I felt great afterwards!
Beware: they do not have a dedicated fryer! We came directly from the Grand Hyatt in Kauai where they had tons of GF options, including fried chicken nuggets and fries. My first meal at Umalu, I asked if they could do GF hamburger and fries. The server said they had GF buns and could fry the fries separately (which I assumed meant dedicated fryer). I got sick. The second time we visited the server told me they don’t have a dedicated fryer but they could bake the nuggets and fries. Both were good.
I'm not sure they still have as many options as there have been in the past, but the Ahi Salad was awesome. I ate it several times during our stay. My gluten eating husband approved of the burger, the BLTTA, and the Big Kahuna Dog. They served an excellent Dark 'N' Stormy, too.
Yes
Awesome gf buns for burgers, they have other gf options like pizza crusts too. Be aware that the fries are battered and also have parmesan on them (for those who watch out for dairy) but you can ask for them to be baked plain. A bit pricey like everything in Hawaii, a cobb salad and burger/fries ran about $60 for my wife and I.

My Favorite place in Lahaina! It has amazing staff who knows what celiac is. They have the best chicken nuggets ever and will even give you baked fries if you ask;)

There was great options for my daughter who has celiac. Highly recommend hotel and restaurant. The GF tenders were amazing and the staff was very knowledgeable.
Wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Enjoyed a yummy burger with chips (fryer is not dedicated). Lots of gfree options on the menu. Beachside view is great and cost should be only $$ vs. the $$$$ listed in the app.

Clearly marked Gf items. We had the fish tacos and it was delicious!!!
Waitress offered us gluten free bread that wasn't on the menu. No issues there. Also next day there another waitress offered us gluten free crust for flat breads. They should probably put it on the menu but nothing like a good surprise!
