We have been going to Walt’s for years before my son’s diagnosis. He wasn’t expecting to be able to eat but was pleasantly surprised. We asked about the GF options and the server was very knowledgeable. She said there was no dedicated fryer but said they would clean and prepare his food in a separate area. He was very happy to find out he could still eat here. Can’t wait to come back.

Celiac daughter had the shrimp cocktail and corn on the cob. Originally she wanted the steamed snow crab legs (the reason we went there) but they were out so other options were somewhat limited. Was assured special precautions would be taken but she had a “gluten” belly ache the rest of the night and next day.

I had the red snapper, carrots and corn on the cob. Very very delicious. My belly did hurt the next day but nothing severe, I think it was the butter sauce I dipped my fish in.

I will DEFINITELY be coming back. Gluten free items are clearly labeled on the menu and the staff made me feel very comfortable about their knowledge regarding gluten free preparation. I got the most delicious Grouper Bowl and was practically licking the bowl after!

The food was delicious. Their house smoked fish dip/spread is GF and the waitress offered us corn tortilla chips as the GF alternative to saltines. We had the steamed oysters with garlic (seriously amazing, fresh oysters, fresh garlic). For the meal I ordered the Captains Platter and my husband ordered the Char-grilled Plate. Both had fresh and perfectly cooked seafood. Those scallops are something else, so naturally sweet and perfectly cooked. For dessert they had creme brulee which was gluten free and I am not kidding you, it was one of the best creme brulee's we've ever had (and we've had creme brulee in Paris). The sugar was perfectly caramelized and the strawberries they had on top were perfectly ripe (you could smell their aroma before even tasting them). We would come back and recommend it to our family and friends.

I absolutely love Walt’s! I have celiac disease and pointed it out to our server (who was wonderful!). Food came, was absolutely delicious, and I didn’t react at all. We’ll be back often! Thank you!!!

We ate here a few weeks ago. We had Justin's pot, which is steamed crab, mussels, shrimp, corn, and red potatoes. It was great. Gluten free options are marked on the menu, but I informed the server and she was helpful. No reaction, great drinks and music.
Yes
Had the snow crab legs and they were fantastic, but... the menu has some issues. Various preparation methods are listed for fish, including panko, followed by a note that says “All preparation methods are gluten free.” We asked about the panko and were told no, it is not GF. No sides are marked as GF on the menu, they had to check about those, then the responses were “probably not” for some items, and “probably” for others. And finally, one review here mentions GF crab cakes, but we were told that they do not currently offer GF crab cakes. :(
The best seafood in Sarasota, plus a GF menu. I’ve eaten here many times over several years. The food has consistently been excellent and I’ve never gotten sick. But you will wait in line a looong time.
Yes
Gluten free menu was limited but everything we had was good!! Steamed seafood pot was fresh and very enjoyable . Gluten free crab cakes were SOOO tasty and crispy and full of crab meat :) I’d go back just for them!!
Yes
I was excited to have a gf menu and that's the reason we selected walts to meet for dinner, but there must have been a contamination error because I was very sick most of the night. I won't go there again because I'm not willing to take a chance of a repeat evening like last night.
Stopped into my favorite fish market and decided to have lunch. Before I could ask I was presented with a menu & a gluten free menu!! 😊😊😊 have ordered King Crab Quinoa Cakes, Grouper Tacos and Panko Fried Snapper. Staff seemed knowledgeable and assured me kitchen staff was too. Will update later as to celiac friendly.
