Wintzell's Oyster House

I’m gluten free plus other restrictions (paleo) so my goal is usually just to be able to find something good wherever my family decides to eat. Our server (Ty) was super gracious, had the gluten free menu memorized, and had the kitchen add my extra restrictions (no processed oils, etc) with no issues. I got the redfish grilled only in olive oil with steamed broccoli (water only) and a plain baked potato. Our server also brought out shrimp for me made according to my same specifications - such a nice surprise. Would definitely come back. There’s a full GF menu online but in the restaurant he just quoted it to me from memory.

2 stars based on honesty. I asked the waiter about GF. Waiter seemed like he'd never heard of GF before, and he asked the chef. He came back and said, "The chef said we can't do anything GF." Really disappointing, but I'd much rather get that answer than get told something would be GF and end up getting gluten-ed. I wish more places would do this.

They have a GF menu online but not in the restaurant. Per the manager, there is NO dedicated space/grill for GF.

Our experience was not good. Arrived just prior to "shift change" so we had to wait 30 minutes. Then another 25 because the next shift was late. Finally served by the manager.

I honestly cant recommend this restaurant at all much less for GF.

Came through again and had the blackened shrimp salad without croutons. It was good.

Came through town again and this time I had fish and broccoli. It was good.

They have a gluten free menu but the staff is not knowledgeable about gluten or other food allergies. Ordered Monterey oysters. They were good

NO LONGER HAS A SEPARATE MENU OR MARKED ITEMS ON THE REGULAR MENU!!!! Our waitress tried in vain to locate the QR code mentioned on the menu. She said she would bring it up the GM next time he comes. I googled what I could and ended up with the oyster sampler and the shrimp sampler. 5 of the oysters came with a cheese sauce I didn't trust so the wife ate those. 5 of the shrimp came fried and they put the grilled ones on top of them she ate those also. She even remembered to not dunk in the cocktail sauce 😁 It was a ton of food and I didn't get sick.
