Not dedicated GF restaurant but they seem to make every effort to serve food safe for those with celiacs. When I asked how their roasties (potato wedges) were cooked the waitress explained that ‘they are cooked in a dedicated oven, that’s how we avoid cross contamination’. I overheard other tables being asked if they had any allergies. Waitstaff seems to have been trained well about food allergies.

I'm new to the Celiac world so I'm still a bit timid eating at restaurants but the server was very knowledgeable about celiac and I had an amazing salmon dish. There was even multiple GF dessert options! Would recommend!

Lots of GF options but I’m not sure what all the fuss is about - the food is pretty average. Had the nachos to start and a meal of scallops and veg. It all was good but not better than an average cook could do at home. Serving staff aware and helpful.

Wonderful find! Many GF options. We had beet salad, braised beef and lamb shank. All of them were delicious. Highly recommend brownie dessert also. The cherry on top was supporting local NS farms!

No hesitation to recommend this restaurant to Celiacs! I had a delicious dinner (scallops and pesto pasta with some veggies) and the server (Ella) was very knowledgeable about GF concerns! They have a separate preparation area in the kitchen for GF food. I usually don’t order pasta in a restaurant but the server was clear it was GF.

This place was great! I ended up eating here multiple times while in Halifax. The fish and toasties were a personal favourite (had it twice) pizza and bacon wrapped scallops were delicious. They had a few local ciders to choose from on the menu and the staff was really knowledgeable. They also had some great options for my vegan friend, and their entire dessert menu was either gluten free or could be made gluten free.

SO YUMMY! My #1 Halifax-based recommendation for people with Celiac Disease who want to eat out at a non-dedicated gluten free restaurant! I’ve eaten here multiple times, and I’ve never been sick after. Despite their disclaimer that they can’t guarantee no cross-contamination, they take Celiac Disease VERY seriously. They take all of the precautions necessary to prevent cross-contamination.

This place was great for people with celiac disease like myself. The menu was very thorough and even mentioned not to eat something if you had celiac. I have to stay away from eggs and milk as well, and I had plenty of food to choose from. I ended up getting a bacon cheeseburger (vegan cheese) and roasties (potato wedges). Waitress was very knowledgeable. Would recommend.

A friend and I had lunch at The Wooden Monkey. It was Excellent! The menu is well-marked re gluten-free, vegan, or contains dairy or nuts, and there are lots of choices. I had the Fish & Roasties, which was very tasty and well-prepared. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. He also made the best Arnold Palmer (Lemonade & Iced Tea) I've ever tasted!

I look forward to returning when I'm in Halifax again.
