Wow bao has GF food? In an airport!? It came up on a search on the Charlotte airport order menu as one of the few places to have GF food. Specifically, the menu on the airport order site and the the Wow Bao corporate website both list teriyaki chicken and jasmine white rice as GF. We stopped by to ask a few questions out of sheer wonder and curiosity. There was a lot of commotion behind the counter. Our biggest question was is that really GF? Yes. Do the scoopers for white rice and teriyaki chicken stay in those bins and not get mixed in with other bins? Yes they stay. We watched a while through a bunch of orders and it was true. We ordered some teriyaki chicken to go and they first tried to give us a base of fried rice. We pointed that out so they gave new containers with the chicken over white rice. The teriyaki chicken doesn’t look like what we are used to. It looked like a chicken stew with veggies. But it was tasty even if not glamorous and we did ok with that specific item. The disarray behind the counter and risk for cross contamination would probably stop us from doing it again. Make sure to ask questions.
