I have to start by saying that I love Yolo, and used to love eating there frequently. The drinks are incredible, the food is always great, it’s a great atmosphere. However, I stopped eating gluten recently (about 2 months ago) because of an intolerance (not celiac) and I’ve been feeling great for the first time in a long time and have been so successful at avoiding gluten. I also don’t eat meat, just for context, so my options while eating out have been limited lately. Last night I had a server at Yolo who had to keep checking with the kitchen about gluten being in menu items, he was very unknowledgeable in that regard. I ended up playing it safe and having asparagus, truffle potatoes and vegetable ceviche. While all of it was amazing, the truffle potato’s had bread crumbs all throughout and I didn’t realize until I had a few bites already because it was disguised with the oils and cheese, etc. Anyways, long story short, it was my first time having gluten in months and I spent the rest of the evening in pain because they aren’t trained on gluten intolerance or menu ingredients. They do however have a few great gluten free options, the vegetable ceviche was great and unique, they have cauliflower crust flatbreads, but I was nervous to try them because of my trust level in the server, ironic that I ended up having gluten in my potatoes, but anyways…I would say give it a try, but ask to speak with the chef or manager to be safe when you do go. I will be doing that the next time I go. The food truly is great, just be cautious and alert. I can’t attest to meat forward gf options because I tend to entirely disregard those, they may be great gf options.
