5 Borough Bagels

Staff nice and checked about allergy or preference, which I appreciate, but without a dedicated gluten free toaster, I paid $8 for a sandwich on a cold pre-made bagel (tasted like the Trader Joe’s brand). If you absolutely need a sandwich lunch spot it can work, but I just expected something more from a place that calls itself 5 borough bagels.

We had a wonderful lunch! They are sensitive to cross contamination when you tell them you have a gluten allergy. Plain and everything gf bagels are available. My daughter has celiac and had a everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, eggs and bacon. I had the Manhattan on the everything bagel and both were delicious. For drinks we had a lavender lemonade and black iced tea. This is definitely on our regular list now!!

They did not have a separate gluten free menu but the manager was very knowledgeable. I had a great experience with an amazing breakfast bagel sandwich.

Will eat here again! I mentioned I had a gluten allergy (for the sake of understanding). The girl taking my order promptly called the manager over and he explained the precautions they take (all new ingredient containers, separate prep area and toaster). The menu isn’t labeled but I asked if the Lox (smoked salmon, capers) was all gluten free ingredients and he said yes. Then he pulled another guy over and told me that he would be making my bagel because his fiancé has celiac and he gets it. When they brought it out, he handed it to me and said he even opened a new pack of napkins for me so nothing would be contaminated. They have two Udi’s bagel options to choose from, plain and everything. And it was delicious, tasted just like a normal Lox!
