The waitress let the kitchen know about celiac and the kitchen made sure to use new and clean utensils to prepare the sushi. Great service, they even offer gluten free soy sauce.

Hip and welcoming sushi place with incredibly generous portions (great value and quality for the money). They were very attentive about celiac needs.

Ordered sushi rolls and didn't get sick. However, to call this sushi is an exaggeration. Not only was the rice not sushi rice but the fish and vegetarian rolls tasted horrible and were slathered in sauces.
Do not recommend.

This place is by far the best sushi I’ve ever had and also the most accommodating sushi place i’ve ever been to. They have tons of delicious gluten free options and many rolls they can make gluten free if requested. The waiters know what Celiac Disease is and I’ve never had any issues with cross contamination. 10/10 recommend!!

Items marked gf on menu, and they were even willing to alter the chef’s special to be gluten free! Waiter made a note for the kitchen to prepare in a separate area, and offered to bring tamari (gf) soy sauce. Great food and great experience!

This place has clearly marked gf options. Lighthouse roll was amazing. Great sushi! Was very busy even on a Monday night, but worth the wait.
I was so excited when the new location opened in Aptos. I’d heard great things able the other location. But I’d never been there before. They had GF options on the menu. I let the waiter know my little girl and husband had Celiacs. And explained what that was. So we can’t have cross contamination. The were nice and reassured us that it would be ok. As the waiter walked away they looked put out. Both times my family had horrible cross contamination to the point it was 3 to 4 days to get past all the normal symptoms they experience with there Celiacs. This is not a bad restaurant. It’s just an ignorant and unsafe restaurant. Please be safe.

tons of gluten free alternatives. they have lots of sauces not made with soy sauce. and you can submit out gluten items. awesome place to go.
Fun atmosphere. Some interesting flavor a including lots of macadamia nuts, basil, and mango that make this place a very unique Santa Cruz experience. The sushi rice was too dry and that ruined it for me. Their salads were good. My fav gluten free sushi place in SF told me not to eat tobiko because sometimes it's grown with wheat starch and it's hard to know when it is or isn't. They had rolls marked as GF that came out with tobiko. Don't know if they source it GF or not. Service was good, the place was fun, but the dry sushi rice lost them a star.
Miso soup and California roll...not the typical top items to rate a restaurant. But I hadn't had either in over a year. Wonderful treat. Philly roll was stuffed with salmon. Salad dressing was also GF as well as option of GF soy sauce. What a relief to enjoy some of my favorites safely.
Yes
I've eaten here several times and never had a problem. The fish has always been fresh, including the sashimi. They have some really great rolls. GF items are marked on the menu and several can be 'adapted' by leaving off the sauce. They carry the GF Tamari, and the servers are pretty gluten savvy, willing to check on things they don't know.
Super knowledgable staff and very accommodating. Will make gf stuff on separate plate and all staff know which sauces are okay and which aren't. Bonus is their miso soup is gf!
They have updated their menu to now have specific things marked as gf or (gluten free available), which is AWESOME.
Also this is the freshest fish in SC (I have been to all of em....) never had an issue like the other review.
Yes
Loved the gluten free menu. The fish was not fresh at all. It had a really weird look and didn't look like any sashimi we've ever eaten and we eat a lot of sashimi. We didn't eat most of our order...
