I called the restaurant before we went and asked for a manager. I told her I saw on-line that the nachos are gluten free. She agreed they are. I asked if the chips came from the same fryer as other items like breaded chicken. She said, “yes they are”. I said, oh so then they are cross contaminated? She corrected then and said, “well we are gluten sensitive, not gluten free.” That was enough to make me not trust eating there.

Giving this a 3 star because my celiac did not get sick. She got the bacon hamburger without the bun and a side fries. They did have some gf options on the menu. However, the menu is not exactly a menu. It's several pieces of paper with the ingredients listed and and the allergen is x marked. So, be prepared to read through that. :)
But, the service was extremely slow on top of waiting 25 minutes to be seated.
We had a party of 6 (baby was sleeping) and we saw several other parties of 3-5 show up after of us, order, serve and leave.
Our waitress was trying, but the kitchen staff just did not seem to care or they forgot about us. My food as well as my husbands was cold. A few managers came by to check in us. They microwaved the food, discounted our meal $25 and gave us a $10 voucher, so they tried to make it right. We were never rude about it, but as weary travelers we just wanted to eat and get back on the road.
By the time we got through we were there for over 2 hours. 😕
Asked for a GF menu at the door, was at the table within minutes of us sitting down. Pretty decent amount of choices. The waitress was very helpful and remembered I was gluten free and checked on is often.

"As America’s Favorite Neighbor, the health and safety of our guests are top priorities at Applebee’s. As part of our commitment to you, we provide the most current allergen information available from our food suppliers on eight common allergens plus gluten and added monosodium glutamate (MSG), so that our guests with food allergies can make informed food selections. Please be aware that during normal kitchen operations involving shared cooking and preparation areas, including common fryer oil, the possibility exists for food items to come in contact with other food products. Due to these circumstances, we are unable to guarantee that any menu item can be completely free of allergens."
If your GF don't waste your time here. Requested GF menu and they never brought it. Not wanting to hold up everyone else at my table I ordered a dinner salad with no bread. When I asked about dressings they had no clue. Oil & vinegar is what I had to get.
They were very helpful and attentive. They brought a gluten free menu and the manager stopped at our table to check on us.

DONT EAT HERE
Had a terrible experience, menu items are marked “gluten sensitive” however staff don’t know anything about the ingredients. I was advised to check the website for the Ingredients and they couldn’t tell me what was in it as to not assume liability for someone misreading the menu and having a reaction. Just generally would not go here and wouldn’t recommend to anyone who’s worried about cross contamination. They don’t seem to care when it comes to allergies

I have eaten here before but I wouldn't exactly call it a wise dining choice for someone with Celiac If they want to feel well afterwards. Proceed with caution.

My husband and I here quite a bit when we both had a long day. Have a decent selection of gluten-free items. Never had any issues eating here. Staff is really great. Like I said we eat here quite a bit.

They have gf options BUT I believe they are called gluten-sensitive. The waitress made sure to mention that to me before I ordered a they are not dedicated gf. She said she had to tell me for legal reasons. I got the fish and fries. I was cautious but didn't get sick thankfully. However, I also haven't been back since then bc I just didn't want the risk. Sick is miserable.

I have celiac and tried ordering off the menu of items that were listed Gluten Sensitive. I told the waitress that I have a celiac and to make sure my food wasn’t cross contaminated. I knew right after my meal that it was cross contaminated. Also I ordered a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and told the bartender that I have a gluten allergy so no croutons but gave me a bread stick. Like I was only able to eat half my salad since the other side had the bread stick
