Everything we ate was amazing! I am very sensitive to cross contamination and had no issues. The servers never touch your food only the plates so no issues there. They ask about allergies when you sit down before proving menus and point out how to read them menu for your options. They also flag all the gluten free dishes so you are sure it’s yours. They have several pizzas, pastas, appetizers AND desert options that are gluten free. Their drinks were reasonable and delicious.

My friends who are not celiac enjoyed their meals as well. I’d then menu we had the gluten free roasted mushroom on bread flatbreads, bruschetta, pizza, chocolate chip cookie dough with ice cream, and brownie with ice cream.

We are probably going back tomorrow.

Been to a few Bella Italia and the food was lacking compared to others. There was no coffie on offer and no zero soft drinks which sucked for my diabetic partner. She had to settle on water. Server's didn't wash hands between handling customers food. So a risk of cross contamination. Personally I would not go back

Good, solid traditional Italian food, but nothing really special. My daughter had the pizza, which was pretty good. She just said they didn’t have many GF and vegetarian options. However, she’s very sensitive and had no issues. It even came out with a separate cutter for her to use herself.

Honestly a great experience. Staff was friendly. Food was really good with a large gluten free menu. They immediately asked if we had any allergies at the door which was great. As I am intolerant I am less sensitive for cross contamination so I can’t judge on that.

Either did not get gf pasta or there was too much cross contamination...I was very sick for several hours and had issues for days afterward.

It might have been a horrible one-off incident, but their pizza made me sick… I let them know I’m celiac, and the pizza came with a little GF flag, but still… it goes without saying that it was an awful experience for me.

Had a gluten free margerita pizza, dough was not cracker thin and was tasty. Probably one of the best gf crusts I’ve ever had. Tomato sauce and cheese was very delicious. My wife had the gf pasta which she said was bland, but I loved my pizza.

Almost all of their menu items can be made gluten free. At the door, before we were even seating, we were asked if their were an allergies they needed to know about. I got a pesto ham hock pasta dish and it was wonderful. It not only looked amazing when she placed it on the table but it had a mini gluten free flag in it so I knew for sure it was for me. Very quick service to bring out our food as well!

While they said they could normally accommodate my allergies (wheat and nuts), they refused to serve me because the restaurant was busy and they were too busy. At least they told me, but we had already ordered and had to go somewhere else

Food is very good and staff knows about gluten free and cross contamination. A must if you are around.

On our way to the castle we stopped in for a late lunch. We loved the entire experience! Food was great! Server was awesome! No questions asked, we would recommend this place to everyone!!

We had a great experience & a fabulous lunch at Bella Italia, centrally located in the middle of the Royal Mile. Their menu has a green wheat leaf icon for dishes already gluten-free, and blue wheat leaf icons for dishes that can be made gluten-free. Very helpful. Our server was very knowledgeable and double checked who actually had an allergy (our son has Celiac). The gluten-free dishes came in different dishes from the others, which to me is a sign that they know what they are doing. I highly recommend this Celiac-friendly place less than 1/2 a mile from Edinburgh Castle.

Nearly everything on the menu was gluten free and each staff member will ask if there are any allergies.

They place a bottle on your table highlighting “allergy table”

Delicious spot with tons of GF options. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. I had spaghetti bolognese and a delicious brownie for dessert. Place is busy so make a reservation.
