Please note I only have experience eating the sushi so this review is only about that. I’ve had their sushi twice, once a few days ago and another two years ago, and I did not get sick. The sushi wasn’t the best tasting but still pretty good.

💔 GLUTENED ME 💔
I called ahead before making a reservation here, they assured me they had a gluten free menu and could accommodate. We arrived for our dinner reservation and I checked again. Yes, they assured me they had gluten free. I ordered gluten free Hibachi and stressed I was Celiac and that this was NOT just a dietary “preference.” We didn’t even get to the “meal” …
They brought me out the salad after we ordered and I asked if this was the gluten free one. They said yes. I began eating the salad and about 5 mins later the waitress comes out and nonchalantly says “oh this is actually the gluten free salad, the one I brought before has gluten” — I am already halfway done with it and am now ready to cry. I tell her that I’m going to be so sick — my husband got up to speak with the manager, and we left.
I’m so angry and SO sick.
DO NOT TRUST THEM HERE - they Glutened me so badly even after assuring me what they had brought me was gluten free ❤🩹🙊🤢🤒😵

Had a great experience at Benihana. They were very careful and knowledgeable about Celiac and used gluten free soy sauce and knew to not provide me with the onion soup or dipping sauces. As well they cooked my meal first and my sides off to the side. Very pleased with a great experience.

Despite what the app says, there is a gluten free menu. There are a good amount of options and the staff was very knowledgeable about what to stay away from.

Manager was phenomenal. We placed a to go order during a very busy time with the hostess. She notified the manager, and he came out to tell us that he would personally be cleaning and cooking for us so it would take longer. They offered to call us when the order was ready. We enjoyed a nice walk along the water and when we got back, he notified us we couldn't have the onion soup with our order since the broth base has soy sauce already in it, but offered a replacement for us. He was very professional and clear on everything and all staff we interacted with were friendly and professional. At the last minute there was some confusion he found out about with butter (also allergic to dairy) so he went back and had them remake everything. He let us know and they did the redo as quick as possible. 100% A+ on taking allergies seriously and being professional from start to finish despite all the business and chaos of the restaurant that time of day. Great food too! Highly recommend.

Since I have to be completely gluten free without cross contamination I’m very careful. The staff here was excellent and had all the answers down to the dressings. They take allergies very serious and I didn’t get sick after eating here which is excellent!

They were very careful! Cooked my food first so there was no cross contamination! Did not get sick. I did over eat though! Yum!

Hibachi style Japanese cuisine: absolutely delicious. Waitress immediately asked if there were any allergies: informed of celiac and she made sure I wasn’t given to soup or the dressing on the salad. Hibachi chef made sure to set my portions off the to side (since they cook the entire table on one flattop) and add GF soy sauce to all my meals. It does pose the risk of cross contamination as they use same utensils and flattop as the other meals (I did not have a reaction). Overall highly recommend
Most of menu is actually GF. If others at the table are eating GF, they will prepare GF first. Also have GF soy sauce.

The restaurant said they understood what Celiac was, and at the beginning they were great. The Server catered towards my needs well. The soup and salad both had gluten, so for the hibachi dinner he let me sub Edamame instead (and it was a lot!). The sashimi always great too. I asked that they cook the food in the back and they didn’t. The cleaned the cooktop off really well (which I’m new so I’m not sure how safe that is) and cooked almost all of my food first. The chicken fried rice and the scallops in front of me using gluten free soy sauce. It was after this things got a bit bad. He cooked the rice and main dish for everyone else (for Hibachi) then when he cooked the veggies and shrimp (even though he sorta cleaned off the stovetop, he tried to put the soy sauce free veggies on my plate (I said no) and he put the shrimp on my plate with the regular soy sauce on it. Thankfully I was full at that point but made me really uncomfortable. I’m new to Celiac but I know that’s bad. So experience was so/so.

Something must have changed here recently, because I informed the host that I had celiac, and he had all of my food prepared in a separate gluten free kitchen. All of my food arrived at once, while my partner was having hers cooked on the griddle with the rest of the group. I felt very comfortable, and the host even walked over a few times to ensure everything went smooth. I have celiac and had no symptoms the evening or day after. I'd for sure eat here again.

NOT celiac safe!! Willing to make the food gluten free and use gluten free soy sauce but everything is cooked on the same stove and they use the same spatula for everything. Definitely got at least cross contaminated because i have major brain fog now, no stomach pain yet thank goodness. Would be great for someone who’s just gluten free but if you have an allergy i would avoid it.

The waitress really knew her stuff when it came to things I could and couldn’t have. I felt safe with consuming food here. The chef did my rice first before everyone else’s. They are very accommodating when you let them know you are gluten free. They do have a gluten free menu!
