There are some people questioning if Bernie's in Hampton NH are gluten free and are using shared fryers. I emailed them and responded quickly to say they have two dedicated fryers and nothing has changed. Everyone needs to make there own decision when eating out. It's unfortunately always a risk. My family has Celiac and this is our go to place during the summer. The waiters/waitresses are always amazing as well as the food.

Was told everything is fried together and told to avoid anything fried. Judging by recent reviews I might’ve had a new server because other celiacs recently had fried stuff. Just be on your toes

Absolutely heartbroken that this restaurant can no longer be safe for celiacs. Have loved coming here for years and recommended to other Celiac friends. Now there is NO GLUTEN FREE FRYER= means no fries, onion rings, fried apps, fried seafood =Not safe. Any GF bun for any sandwich is put through a toaster with all other bread=not safe. I hope management steps up and goes back to exceptional offerings. But until then, their GF menu is useless when 80% of offerings are not safe to eat.

NO GLUTEN FREE FRYER! Been coming for years and always been very safe. Asked to confirm the gf fryer and they stated that they no longer have one. They also no longer have a separate toaster for buns. Still have everything listed on the menu and they did not seem to understand the concern about not telling people the fryer is now shared with gluten items.

UPDATE: MAY 2023 I was paranoid after my last visit but after clarifying the nachos were gluten free TWICE, I still got glutened. Badly. The level of disappointed I am is off the charts. They should not be advertising gluten free options with a fully laminated gluten free menu when they are clearly not making sure their food is safe for celiacs.

AUGUST 2020 I am a celiac & I recently got their food to-go with 2 other celiacs and we all got very very sick. It was on a Tuesday night so it wasn’t even a peak busy night. Please be very careful. My guess is it’s hit or miss.

I got really sick and so did the other 2 celiacs I was with. The food was good but I question if it was gf.

Dedicated fryer, all sorts of fried seafood. They also make it dairy free. Waitstaff understand CC b/c when I said I’m also DF, they asked if I’d be ok that GF mozzarella sticks were cooked in the same fryer. They also double checked the ingredients in a mixed drink for me and brought me the can to read rather than deciding themselves. They have light and fluffy gluten free onion rings too!

I’m here for a weekend (though don’t live too far away) and I want to eat every meal here. Amazing ocean view. Only downside is it’s a little pricey but it’s worth it for a GF fryer!

They do have a warning on their GF menu that they are not a dedicated facility and can’t guarantee no CC. It’s very clearly something their lawyers made them add (and I am one, so I get it) as they seemed very CC cautious.

I couldn’t believe such a casual beach restaurant would have such a great gf selection. They use a separate fryer which is so rare! My burger in a gf bun was tasty, but of course the bun fell apart after a few bites. I would definitely go back and would feel safe ordering fried clams here!!

I ordered a salad and it was gluten free and dressing was gluten free however it was totally rotten. Leaves of rotted lettuce and avocado slices that were green with preservatives but fermented with Rot. I took like 3 big bites before seeing the rotted lettuce which was under the top of the salad. When I sent it back with the waitress she couldn’t comp the 18.00 salad bc I’d eaten too much of it. Absurd. Today my stomach is upset but it’s not gluten because I vomit with gluten. So careful with gluten but not careful with FRESH FOOD.

Had gf minestrone soup and bacon jalapeño poppers from the gf menu. They have their own gf menu and seemed to really care about how things were prepared. My non-gf husband ordered the gf calamari. I tried it and it was so tender.

I ate here on Saturday night. It wad about an hour and a half wait since the weather was beautiful. I was given a gluten free menu.We ordered Caprese skewers as an app. I got fried shrimp basket as a meal and my boyfriend got a burger (he doesn't need to be gluten free). The meal was delicious and it's always great to be able to get fried good since it's not always an option.

Went for lunch on a Monday in September, so it was a perfect combo of lovely weather, lots of available outdoor dining, and fantastic seafood! It is such a treat to be able to order fried GF seafood (and for a reasonable price!), but Bernie's truly hits the spot. Server was knowledgeable about celiac, and food was delivered by manager and marked GF. Calamari was fantastic, as was the fried haddock dinner. Craving lobster? My husband got twin lobsters for $17! Fresh, delicious lunch with a view. Highly recommend.

My mom and I, both celiac, were able to order nice meals here. I got the GF fish and chips, she got the haddock dinner, both extremely tasty! 24 hours later no issues. They have a dedicated GF fryer and their staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Our waiter knew we were GF before we sat down - the hostess must have told him - and the first thing he said to us was that he was going to make sure we were taken care of. Exemplary service.

Soooo happy to find another resturant that really understands GF and dedicates a complete menu with so many choices. Even deep fried anything. I got to enjoy onion rings for the first time in a long time. Thank you Bernies! Ps, the amazing views of the ocean/beach and their top notch drinks made this GF experience even better.

Excellent GF menu. Lots of options and GF rolls. The GF tenders were awesome and the GF lobster roll sandwich was incredible. Our sever Ashley was very knowledgeable and they have a dedicated GF menu.

I’m so happy I tried this place. I wanted everything. Had the chicken fingers amazing and then had there fried clams. So good. I can’t wait to come back. It’s hard to find a place that does fried gluten-free food. Glad I don’t live near here I’d gain so much weight 🤣

What a relief after all the places on the street with all fried (breaded) foods! Great GF choices, great service, great drinks menu, very reasonably priced. What else could you want?

Mon amoureux est cœliaque et il A.D.O.R.É ce restaurant. Les serveurs sont bien informés sur le sujet et ils connaissent bien le menu et les particularités de celui-ci. Selon les dires de mon conjoint, les burgers sont excellent et les rondelles d’oignon aussi. Les aliments fris sont cuit dans un compartiment a part donc il y a moins de risque de contamination croisé. Si vous passez par la, arretez!

Large gluten free menu. However my food was as bland as could be. Nachos would have been decent if they were hot. Waitress offered to send them back, but by the time they came...I had chicken skewers with zero flavor or seasoning. Black bean rice was tasteless too. Not sure if due to being gluten free, it was not seasoned. Hubby had regular shrimp skewers and rice pilaf, which he said were good. In all fairness it was very crowded for a Sunday at 4:15. Hopefully I won’t get sick from this banquet

Outstanding GF menu. Had the lobster roll and it tasted so good that truthfully I was worried I would get sick. Glad to say I never did! Atmosphere was also great and the view of the ocean from the top deck was fantastic! Highly recommended for the options alone.

They have a huge gluten free menu. Their pulled pork sandwich and onion rings were so good! At first I was worried they gave me a gluten bun because it looked and felt like it couldn't possibly be gluten free. I am extremely sensitive to contamination and I had zero issues.

Server seemed okay knowledge wise of celiac but double checked with manager to make sure what we ordered was okay. We got a Cobb salad with chicken and the mussels both off the GF menu. One or both of these were not GF and ended up getting sick shortly after. Would caution if going here

Went with my husband and 2 boys. The boys (6&9) have celiac. My husband and I avoid gluten when around them as well. Ordered off the gf menu: Twin lobster meal w/ 2 sides ($26) Clam strip meal w/ fries ($17) Fish and chips ($15) Garden salad with chicken ($13) And sodas. After tip meal was $100. Food was good. Onion rings were a bit soggy though. Dedicated fryer is def a score in our book!! The best thing of all we ordered was the clam strips!! The view is amazing. No one left with a belly ache!! Extra bonus.... free drawings of your kids while there and great music. Outside eating area is huge.

Waitress wasn't very knowledgeable about gf. Was hesitant to eat the food when it arrived. I did and no reaction! Very yummy! Extensive gf menu! Fried food was all spectacular! Onion rings were nice and thick not those straw things that seem to be the only gf onion ring option other places.
