Terrible, terrible treatment of me as a celiac. Awful. Ordered the steak, baked potato and broccoli cheddar soup. The kitchen then said the soup wasn't actually gluten free, then the manager told me they were wrong, and assured me it was okay because they don't actually make the soup there, it's pre-made and pre-packaged and they just open and heat it up. The manager kept rolling his eyes at me about the questions I asked and, after all of this trouble and drama about what was or was not gluten free, he didn't even apologize or comp anything. We nearly walked out. After all of that, I was also super sick and had to cancel my next day plans. Please, do not support this location with their terrible treatment of celiac customers and horrific food handling.
I was worried because of the other review so I made sure to be diligent when ordering. I'm really sensitive with cross contamination so I was sure to let Ed our waiter know. He said they have a special allergy button they push to make sure it's made correctly to avoid cross contamination. I ordered the cfgf pizza Hawaiian style and a baked potato with chicken, chives, and cheese both to split with my husband. I also ordered wyder's pear cider. I noted that on the gluten free menu the potato does not come with Alfredo sauce which it normally does. I was going to mention that but decided to wait to see how they brought it out. The manager brought out the pizza and stated that it was gluten free. The waiter brought out the potato. I noticed melted cheese but also what looked like Alfredo sauce. My husband who is not celiac nor sensitive thought it was cheese but upon tasting it verified it was Alfredo. I asked the server who apologized profusely saying he thought the potato was only for my husband and did not make it gluten free. He took it and brought another one that was gf. He also brought us a free gluten free Pizookie with vanilla ice cream which was amazing! Besides the error and hostess service (which is why I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars) it was a great experience and I didn't get sick at all besides the ate a little too much dairy gas. My brother who is also sensitive to gluten but not as sensitive as me also ate with us. He had a patron margarita, salmon with brown rice (I guess rice pilaf is not GF), & a Pizookie w/ ice cream. He also did not get sick. Overall a great experience, you just need to be diligent as always because no one except you will suffer if you get glutened.
Asked for gluten free, not sure what set me off but it was either the steak or the green beans. I will not likely be back.
I asked for a gluten free balsamic chicken dishes. And they tried to serve the onion strings that have gluten in it on top of the balsamic chicken. Thank goodness I know better and more than the staff... I tried to explain celiacs but who knows if they care...
Only one star because I had to . My daughter never eats out because of the anxiety of being glutened. Tonight, she was glutened so badly, we barely made it home before she became violently ill. My husband found a noodle in his gluten free dish. The gluten free dishes were delivered to the table at the same time with the gluten dishes, waitress knocked my daughters silverware off of her plate and picked it up with her gluten contaminated hands, not even realizing this could be an issue. She ordered a gluten free pizza and a gluten free pazookie. Never again. Now my daughter will spend the rest of her birthday and the days following sick.
I eat here regularly with my family. BBQ chicken chopped salad "with no onion strings" and a gluten allergy explained is what I order. Others in my party get the gluten free pizza. We have never gotten ill from this location and feel comfortable eating here. For extra calories and enjoyment, get the gluten free chocolate chip pizookie. It's TOO good.
GF menu and staff say they mark tickets GF allergen if you ask them. I always ask the manager to get involved in hotside operations, to ensure busy staff are not overlooking GF processes. Staff and managers are always GF friendly. Our family has not had any problems with GF cross contamination here. Well done!
They always take such great care of me when I come here! I eat here A LOT and I think I've only gotten sick once, which is what sometimes happens when you go out to eat at a place like this. This was when they were relatively new though. Ever since I've been back they always make sure everything is safe. Recently the manager gave my fiancé and I free pizookies because it was taking a long time and they wanted to ensure they were prepared safely for us :) the only downside is there is very limited food options if you don't like getting the same thing, but I always get pizza and a pizookie!
So glad to find a new gluten-free option in Tallahassee. They understand how to prevent cross contamination. The tomato bisque made for a great starter. For the entree, the balsamic glazed chicken is amazingly tender & tasty. I substituted the mashed potatoes for a baked potato. My friend had the GF Hawaiian pizza which was one of the better GF crusts we've had. We shared the pizookie which is a warm GF chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream on top. I will definitely be back.
Service here is ridiculously slow and staff is not knowledgable.
This is a fantastic place if your gluten free. Has a menu for all allergies. Has appetizers, soups, steaks, Sides and the best part is......DESSERT! A single serving or a big JUST baked, warm gluten free chocolate chip cookie with vanilla bean ice cream on it. I was AWESOME!
BJ's misses the boat. They give lip service to having gluten-free food, but they only have a few token choices, they are sloppy with cross-contamination and corporate just doesn't care to do gluten-free recipes even when it's easy. They do have a good (one flavor) gluten-free pizza and a good (one flavor) gluten-free cookie. Everything else that is gluten-free tends to cluster at the highest price points on the menu. Even their potato skins are cross-contaminated because they can't be bothered with a separate fryer. This is not the best choice. I'd rather they just didn't advertise gluten-free than do such a half-assed job.
Fantastic! The gluten free menu had many choices. I had the broccoli cheese soup, the portobello mushroom and asparagus salad, and the GF chocolate Chip Kazookie, and everything was excellent! The staff was friendly and the restaurant was beautiful. The prices were good too.
Awesome place to eat. Great staff and wonderful atmosphere. A nice selections of gluten-free items including a dessert and a cider.
I have Celiac and usually BJ's is a great go to place while traveling but this BJ's lacked in their food quality standards. I get the GF Spicy Pig Pizza with no cheese but had to send it back due to no pizza sauce or bacon and disproportioned ham. Luckily I didn't get sick. Disappointing!
Food is decent and standard. I got the gf pizza which from my experience is one of the better of the chains that have gf pizza. We have BJ's at home. You always need to be specific with the server that you have celiac and need to avoid cross contamination and you should be good
I have celiac disease. Everything that is made for me was made in a separate area with separate dishes and utensils. The server ,Ted was very knowledgeable . I had the pizza and pizookie. Everything was very good. I highly recommend this restaurant .
They knew what they were doing here! I got a gluten-free thin crust pizza and a pear cider and both tasted great! The waiter knew to ask if it was an allergy so they could be careful of cross contamination. I will be going back. 😊
Every time I go here I get sick. I keep trying it hoping they'll figure it out. They are all clueless.
Consistently great food. I especially love the pizza! I eat there often and never have I had any issues and never sick! They know how to take care of gluten intolorance! Yeah!!!
I love BJ's. It seems that I eat here once a week. I'm extremely sensitive and I get gluten-free pizza or house Sirloin with mash potatoes and i don't get sick. And the gluten-free pazooki are amazing! They also have Wyders and Berry Burst on draft. Because I work in a bar and know how it goes for bar dishes I always ask them to rinse the glass out for me first. Celiac safe for sure.
A pretty bad experience! I will not set foot inside one of your restaurants again. It is very difficult for me to eat out because of my celiac disease. When I find a restaurant that already has a gluten free menu, I expect the wait staff and kitchen to understand what that means! My waiter was nice enough and did note the my order should be gluten free. HOWEVER, the kitchen plopped fried onion rings on top of my dish.(Balsamic chicken breast on field greens, no potatoes or onion rings. A different server brought the dish to my table. I pointed out the problem and he didn't know what I was a talking about. He took the plate away and said he'd find my wait person. We had already waited beyond a reasonable amount of time for our orders (3 of us). Now I had to wait about 10 minutes for the wait person to come back to the table so I could explain the problem. He said he'd get a new plate right away. It took another 15 minutes. My friends accompanying me were done with their meal by now and I wasn't served yet. Finally the meal comes. I started to cut the chicken breast and could not cut through. It was very tough and dry. It needed a steak knife. I tasted it anyway. It was horrible!!! Dry, tough, extremely salty and tasted very bad. Obviously NOT fresh chicken. Or they microwaved it to death. I couldn't eat it. I had the waiter remove the item from the check. Paid the bill for my friends meal. I left starving. Absolutely horrible and demeaning experience.
