We split the GF pancakes and the bluebird special. I asked them to make sure they were careful as my son has true celiac but has been less sensitive. He found a crispy chunk of something in the pancakes, so that should have been our first warning. He vomits about 2 hours later if he's had a lot of gluten and that's what happened. If he has a small amount (like a couple french fries) he's fine. The bowl he vomited in was completely covered in oil (the bluebird is a greasy spoon cafe, so not unexpected). I bet they don't change their fryer oil carefully enough and that's how he got glutened, because everything we ate was GF (eggs, hashbrowns, the GF pancakes, bacon). My son is about 85 lbs, so I'm hoping at some point he won't react as severely. My daughter is about 105 lbs and she didn't have a problem when she ate the pancakes. It was a while ago and I can't remember if she ate hashbrowns. I would call and complain, maybe I will, but I'm not feeling up for it. If you want to take a chance, you can try it but I'd avoid it if you are a true celiac or very sensitive.
