In a food court full of non-gf options, it was great to find Brown Bag. Online menu and electronic ordering kiosk… items are marked GF on the menu, and there was space to add a special note with my kiosk order. At check out, the cashier made sure to warn me that the prep area is shared, but that they would change their gloves to make my meal. I took the chance as I was having a “bowl” made directly in my takeaway dish. I had the “Milano” with chicken, pesto, spinach, brown rice, tomato and Parmesan. It was really good and I felt fine all day after.

Was so excited to be able to order a breakfast sandwich based on reviews here, but was told they used a shared toaster once I arrived, so that option was out. Did get a veggie scramble that was good.

I ordered a breakfast sandwich online for pickup. It was easy to select gluten free bread, and I added a note to please avoid cross contamination of gluten. They were finishing our sandwiches when we went to pick them up. They had clearly prepared mine on a separate surface than my husband’s gluten-y bagel. Very nice people. The sandwich was good! Five stars for easy breezy takeout that tastes yummy and doesn’t make me sick!
We are only in DC for a few days, but I downloaded Brown Bags app so I can order easily while we are here.
UPDATE: We went back for lunch and I ordered a chicken sandwich. The sandwich was good but cold. They said that they use the same equipment for toasting the regular and gluten free sandwiches. I’m glad they told me and gave me a choice.

They have 2 different types of GF bread, a flat bread and a sub roll. The owner was our checkout person and he walked me through some of their gluten free options.

We were in DC for a wedding. The owner couldn’t have been nicer when he heard we were looking for gluten-free breakfast. He apologized for having run out of gluten-free wraps and rolls. He then offered various combinations of eggs and breakfast bowls. My husband who is celiac got a bowl with quinoa, eggs, avocado. He said it was delicious. Coffee, juices, water, and fresh fruit are also available. Eggs are fried in individual pans. If you are hypersensitive, be careful. Open only weekdays.
