Almost all the sides are GF so I made a meal of the sides. Tortilla chips go in a shared fryer, but the corn tortillas are GF as is the chicken. My waitress said the other meats may have soy in the marinade so double check when you visit as I see a previous reviewer got the carne asada. Really good Mexican food for the island but thats not why I gave it 5 stars as this app is about GF safety not taste. Theres another app for that lol. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable on GF which is hard to find here (I'm a local) so I truly appreciate this place
Update 1/1/23
Place was shortstaffed so didn't feel safe to order anything. I won't be coming here on the weekend for dinner again. Place turns into a nightclub in the evenings so still fun to have a drink here though

I had a great experience at Buho. My server was very friendly and knowledgeable about what items were gluten free. If he didn’t know he asked the kitchen and I got a quick response. I got the corn dip special, which was very good. He warned me that the chips tortilla chips are fried in a shared frier, but that doesn’t bother me. I got the carne asada tacos with corn tortillas, which were very good. Some of the salsas have gluten, so he made sure to bring me one that was safe. I also got a margarita that was yummy but mostly ice. Overall one of my better experiences in Waikiki and reasonably priced.
