I met a friend at Café Maná for lunch today (7/6/22). I don’t wanting to try this place for sometime but couldn’t find anybody that would go with me to a place that served mostly vegan, raw, and gluten-free food. The past reviews were definitely right on point.
I had the special which was three jackfruit tacos with black beans and it was wonderful. The guy I was with had the Portabella mushroom sandwich and really enjoyed it. We shared the Asian lettuce wraps as an appetizer and they were very tasty and had just the right amount of heat with the sauce they spring it with. There was only one server that was working the restaurant and outside today and yet the service was impeccable. Our server was very efficient and she also took time to tell us what she liked on the menu and answer questions.
I have celiac and did not get sick. Will definitely be going back and would recommend to anyone.
The only downside to this visit is that my blood sugar went crazy after eating there. I went from 160 up to about 380 and sat there for a couple of hours. I may have missed judged the amount of carbs but my guess is that there was more sugar in the foods than I would’ve thought. Regardless - great place, great food, and great service.
