Review of Callao Cafe and Market

We were SO looking forward to eating here on our last trip to PSU based upon all the reviews here. We got there at 1:15 for lunch on a Friday. They didn't have any GF bread because their vendor stopped providing small businesses with their product. They are in the process of finding another source of GF bread. They offered to make the sandwich on a GF crepe. They opened a new bag of potato chips to prevent cross contamination. My issue was, they were out of pepperoni for the sandwiches we ordered. They offered to substitute bacon, which was fine. I waited a good 10 minutes AFTER the other 3 sandwiches came out for my regular BLT on toasted Italian bread. It was so toasted that it was like eating a sandwich on two croutons. When we ordered crepes for dessert, my daughter wanted to try the Nutella and bacon crepe - they were out of bacon!! I guess we cleaned them out for the sandwiches. As for the desert crepes, the strawberry and Nutella crepe was a crepe with chopped strawberries on the inside and the smallest amount of Nutella drizzled across the top of the folded crepe. They would be SO much better with the Nutella INSIDE the crepe as well as artistically drizzled on top! BUT I've had crepes in France.

I would probably visit again to give it another shot.
