Having left a glowing report for this restaurant after having what we thought was a good meal, we both spent the next 48 hrs with severe sickness and diarrhoea! We had only eaten a simple breakfast 8hrs before our meal so obviously the problem had to be from serious food hygiene issues at the restaurant. I therefore have to retract my previous recommendation which is shown below.

‘Excellent gluten-free restaurant. A very interesting and exciting range of dishes prepared and presented with passion. Having had some disasters in San Fran discovering this coeliac friendly restaurant was a terrific find. We loved it so much that we keep going back.’

Our favorite spot in San Fran! Talked with the owner Josh and he was not only well versed on gf but also on clean/anti inflammatory eating in general. The dishes are beautiful and full of creative flavors. It’s great for a nicer dinner out. All dishes are gf. We had a chickpea flour flatbread type appetizer that was amazing, roasted chicken, and lamb for dinner. Best meal we had in SF! Highly recommend.

An amazing culinary delight! A totally gf restaurant with an amazing menu - dishes were unique with ingredients complimenting each other to make dishes a flavour sensation for the taste buds. We had 2 appetisers and a main and shared - entertainment of food all round. The wait staff were friendly and more than happy to explain anything on the menu. We travelled from Australia and found this amazing place via this app - very glad we tried it out while in town.

I own a business nearby and I’ve eaten at this restaurant half a dozen times without even noticing that it’s a GF business—that’s how amazing the food is. I was recently diagnosed with celiac’s disease, so I’m absolutely over the moon that I can still eat here. The ceviche and the roasted pork tacos are my go-to’s.

Food was excellent and staff was accommodating. They were busier than expected so it was a bit of a wait all around (due to some influencer press), so it’s worth getting a reservation.

Nice vibe, friendly staff and 100% gluten free facility. I have an intolerance to dairy, onion and garlic which was accommodated to also! I got the salmon which came with a winter salad. Knowing it was safe was amazing but it lacked taste.

Food was good. Staff was great. Vibe was nice. Have enjoyed all my meals and look forward to continuing to explore. A bit pricey, but assume it’s due to the fresh, local nature of the ingredients. Really hope this place sticks around — nice to have another nice, sit down GF dining option in SF!

I just wish the four of us had gone to proposition chicken for a sandwich and saved $600+. I know food is expensive these days but this wasn’t worth the price. It is strangely dark there (I’m getting nice food, I want to see it) the waitress was cold, they only have wine (no spirits.) Surprisingly, it just had nothing magical going on. The starters we got were pretty good but the mains were really unremarkable. This is the most uncomfortable review, I don’t usually post negative reviews when I’m not thrilled with a place, it just really hit me wrong.

While the place was cute and the fact that it as 100% gluten free was reassuring, it is NOT safe for people with additional allergies. The menu is unclear and handwritten. I asked the server about the presence of unusual allergens in a dish, and she did not know. Even after asking the chef, my main course arrived with buried currents resulting in a miserable end to the evening. NOT SAFE for people with complex allergies.

Decided to try this restaurant based off of previous reviews, and I’m so glad I did! The menu is handwritten and does not discuss gluten free options (nor on the website). However, I asked our server and he confirmed everything is gluten free. Everything about this restaurant was fantastic: the safety of the food handling and ingredients, the quality of the dishes, and the restaurant ambiance. Absolutely delicious and I did not get sick. You feel “normal” when dining here. I will be back (especially for brunch). NOTE: one of the desserts had oats, which I avoid even if they are gluten free.

This is exactly what the GF community needed! Camino Alto is my new go to for weekend and brunch and dinner. Everything on the menu is incredible, you can't go wrong! I even took my team at work of 10 people here for dinner and they were blown away. No one knew they didn't serve any gluten but me :)

This restaurant was fantastic, and we can’t wait to go back for breakfast. We had the halibut checks (staff favorite and quite a showstopper), salad, roasted sweet potato (think of this as a healthy twist on bbq chips), salmon, and top 5 pork tacos we’ve ever had; and we said yes to both desserts they offered including dark chocolate pot de creme and rhubarb crumble. We don’t drink alcohol but they had some flavorful non-alcoholic beverages including a delicious coriander limeade; a robust wine and beer list—only 2 beers on the list have gluten (in CANS) and those are the only gluten in the restaurant. (We spoke with the owner who also shared they never cook in cheap seed oil, using only extra virgin olive oil, animal proteins are all grass fed or sustainably caught, and seasonal/fresh/locally sourced produce, and no gluten.
