I was nervous to come here after reading some reviews but have no fear. I had an amazing experience. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and her husband,Will, was the head manager. Great team and great service. Will took me around the buffer and explained what I could have and couldn't. He was amazing! The buffet has more than I expected on it. Definitely enough for me to justify the cost. Anything I couldn't have, he offered to prepare it in the kitchen safely. I have celiacs so he even explained the Rice pudding was GF BUT was prepared in their kitchen around four so offered me a GF packaged cookie or brownie they have which they warm up for you safely. Great experience and looking to come back again. Just remember to ask for Will!

Great seafood! Definitly will return!
Fwiw, I *exclusively* ate crab legs, muscles, and steamed shrimp and was very happy with that. If you want variety beyond that, then this place isn't for you.

didn’t even eat there. asked her about the gluten free menu advertised and she had no clue and said it’s probably just on the buffet. you would have to buy a $50 buffet to be able to eat the little bit of gluten free stuff that could be contaminated. if you didn’t get the buffet then you would have to automatically wait an extra 35 minutes to get your food.

This is the best place for all you can eat seafood! We've been to all the Captain George's and they are all great. You must ask for real butter from the back. They are great about making something in the back if needed. I had baked potato steak and salmon from the back with zucchini. The crablegs were cooked well. Our waitress Jen was amazing ask for her if you come! She personally made safe cocktail sauce and kept the butter coming. She was very professional and sweet.

My experience was wonderful!! The chef came out and walked me through everything what I could eat and what I couldn't. He even made fish and veggies and brought it to my table. The margarine can contain gluten but they do have packets of butter that are safe. The food was delicious and it was 100% celiac safe.

We have been to all of the Captain George's, and this is our favorite. Classier, more upscale than the others. Downside is their butter isn't gluten free, so you have to order most fish and veggies from the back, because it's on everything! Oysters, Dungeness crab, and collards were our favorites.
The manager spoke to me about my options. I didn’t feel comfortable eating from the buffet due to the possibility of cross contamination. I ended up getting the appetizer of potato skins which were delicious. They are normally deep fried but they baked them for me. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant.

Ask for the manager to give you a tour of the buffet. Jake gave us great insight and if you want something that is on the buffet that is not gf, they will make it. Best to go early when they open. They offered rice pudding on the dessert bar along with fresh fruit. Most Seafood is gf, but even the sirloin steak was made in gf au jus. Several of the vegetables were gf. Staff was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to.
Yes
Got glutened here. Cross contamination. The staff is not knowledgeable about gluten cross contamination, neither is the manager. “GF” offerings on buffet next to wheat items. Public self serves from buffet, mixing spoons, and of course coming in contact with glutened plates.

I have to say, this was without a doubt, the single BEST dining experience I have had as a Celiac! Within minutes of walking in (got there at opening time of 3pm) we were greeted by the manager. He asked if we had ever been there before. My response was yes, over 25 years ago, and pre gluten free days. He immediately told me he would go over the menu/tables with me personally in order to make sure I knew what was safe and what was not! There was one other customer who over heard the conversation, and asked if she could join us. Absolutely!! The manager went on to go through every table/item and explain what was GF and what was not. WAY too many items to list, but just about everything except the steamed items contained a margarine that was NOT GF. What was great about the experience was that he offered to make most of the single food items GF separately for me if I so desired! I love clams/muscles/crab/shrimp and was quite happy with just that. They offered to make a separate salad, but I asked for the steamed green beans and sauteed mushrooms, of which they brought HUGE gf servings right to my table! The manager also personally made a cocktail sauce gf for me as well! There was GF chocolate pudding and rice pudding if you could muster a dessert! While it was a limited menu, if you are a seafood lover, there is plenty for you to get your money's worth! My only suggestion to them would be to make the simple change from using the tainted margarine over to a GF source! It would open up the menu even more and they would not have to cater quite as much to individuals! Great experience! Great service! I wish I could remember the managers name, because he was exemplary! We dined on 09/22/2017 @ 3:00 pm
My husband has to eat GF, so we are very careful when we go out to eat. We would definitely go back here, it was great. We read great things about the buffet. Sarah M, our server, had a chef come out and take my husband around the buffet to show him what was safe. Everything was perfect and delicious.

Manager, Jake, came to our table and introduced himself when our server told him 2 ppl in our party were GF so he could go over the menu. Chose to order off menu instead of buffet, just personal preference. Crab legs, grilled shrimp and baked potato, all very good, no issues.

The "gluten free" food is on shared bars with gluten food. it was difficult to find the gluten. free options. I ended up walking around with their website pulled up on my phone.
my husband had an issue with some of the food. It didn't sit well, and caused him to get sick while we were there. We attempted to handle things privately. Because we didn't make a scene, the manager, possibly owner, refused to believe that it was their food. He questioned the timing of my husband getting sick and accused him of claiming to be sick to get a lower bill. My husband was in the bathroom vomiting when the bill came. The man pulled our receipt to figure out how long we had been there. Then told us we were there way too long and accused my husband of just over eating. My husband had one plate of food.
Honestly, the man was rude. My husband just wanted to let the guy know that something made him sick, then pay our bill, so we could leave. This manager decided to escalate things with a semi raised voice, until he was shown a picture of my husbands vomit in their bathroom.
The guy seriously wouldn't drop it. he even tried to say my husband was lying because we didn't make a scene. Then he, the manager, turned around and made a scene.
The manager kept cutting my husband off and telling him that he goes to the pier every morning to get fresh sea food. That's great and all, but my husband doesn't eat sea food. He was eating the prime rib, vegetables, Mac and cheese, and BBQ.
He ended up discounting my husbands meal, but the man was rude and actually scared me. Why wouldn't a manager want to know that their food made a customer sick? I don't understand.

Decided to go based on the reviews. When I asked for a menu I was told the buffet was my only option. There was no possibility if a chef for clarification. My waitress actually recommended the macaroni and cheese for my GF granddaughter. While the crab legs were delicious, I felt like I was taking my life in my hands with everything else. Not worth the risk!

I told our waiter that we had someone on a gluten free diet in our party, and he immediately offered to bring a chef out to talk to us. The chef walked us through the whole buffet and let us know which options were safe to eat. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He also checked on us several times to make sure all of our questions were answered. This was by far the best experience we have had since going gluten free.

I was terrified when I walked in and discovered this was an enormous buffet restaurant, but the waiter was extremely helpful. He was woofing to walk me through the buffet or have a chef do so, to explain what I could eat. I decided to play it safe and ordered crab legs from the menu. Great service and decent grub.
The waitress & the chef were very helpful with the menu & went out of their way to accommodate my gluten free dinner !!!
The manager came out and told me if I didn’t feel comfortable with the food at the buffet due to cross contamination, they would make a separate meal for me in the kitchen. They were so understanding and happy to do it. They fixed me steak, peel and eat shrimp and steamed broccoli. I also was able to eat crab legs from the buffet. For dessert, they brought out two warm Udis snickerdoodle cookies. I was so pleased with our experience there and had no reactions at all. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to someone with celiac.

It’s a buffet but they have a separate app to scan to see what is gluten free on the buffet for the gf person! Also, they will prepare something for you without the sauce or seasoning in the back on separate pan. And they check on you throughout the meal. It’s the first all you can eat that does that! Amazing experience and worth the money!

When I arrived at the restaurant I told our waiter that I have celiacs and he had the manager come to our table. When the manager arrived he had a card with a QR code for me to scan. It brought me to a list of food allergies, I choose gluten and wheat of course. There was a large list of food allergies or even just preferences. After I submitted my response it brought me to a list of all of the food on the buffet that I could eat. He also informed me that the chicken, steak, and salmon were not gluten free because of the seasoning, but they could cook them in the back for me at no additional charge. He also offered to do the same thing with other items I didn’t see on the menu, within reason of course! They even had gf dessert options icecream, cookies, rice pudding, and chocolate pudding. The food was delicious and I had not symptoms after eating here. The service was AMAZING!!!

This place was great! The manager was very well informed of gluten in the food. They had me scan a QR code where I chose the allergy items and it brought up exactly the foods I was able to eat from the buffet. They also informed me of a new Udi's gluten free snickerdoodle cookie they had just gotten in. They also gave me a specific gluten free menu that could be ordered from as well. Overall, I was very impressed.

The manager gave me a QR code to scan that showed all items that are gluten free. If there was any item on the buffet that was not listed as gluten free but I believed it could be made gluten free, the chef would prepare it without gluten. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful, and I was able to eat without getting sick!
