I told our waiter that we had someone on a gluten free diet in our party, and he immediately offered to bring a chef out to talk to us. The chef walked us through the whole buffet and let us know which options were safe to eat. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He also checked on us several times to make sure all of our questions were answered. This was by far the best experience we have had since going gluten free.
I was terrified when I walked in and discovered this was an enormous buffet restaurant, but the waiter was extremely helpful. He was woofing to walk me through the buffet or have a chef do so, to explain what I could eat. I decided to play it safe and ordered crab legs from the menu. Great service and decent grub.
The waitress & the chef were very helpful with the menu & went out of their way to accommodate my gluten free dinner !!!
Amazing experience! Our server Zac was very friendly and made sure to send the manager over to help with any questions I had about the food. The manager John, took me through each buffet and knew exactly what was gluten free and what to avoid. He went item by item. Lots of great food to choose from and they also brought udis rolls and a cookie to the table. Dinner was fantastic highly recommend!!!
This restaurant was awsome..ask for Josh, he will accommodate for just about any allergy or celiac disease issues..This was my first time eating at a buffet since diagnosed with celiac. I was hesitant but Josh made me feel very secure in my food choices..He walkes you through the buffet line showing you what is safe. He also did specialty items in the kitchen for me..Thank you to all the staff that helped and a big shout out to Josh....
We had the pleasure of meeting Manager Josh Kraft when we arrived at the restaurant. Josh allowed us to get seated and then came over and spent 15 minutes with my wife explaining all the options available to her and assisting in creating her own gluten free dinner. Josh was thorough, informative, and went well beyond what we expected from the manager. He truly cares about his customers and has a passion for those with diet sensitivities. Thank you again Josh, for all you did for us. We would be remiss without thanking Matt Vigari Jr. Matt seated us, listened to my wife's concerns, actually went into the kitchen to clean the grill, and then topped it off by cooking her meal. Matt also came back several times to check on us. Finally, we also would like to thank our server, Natalie H. for making our experience at Captain George's wonderful. Matt and Natalie are both college students with very bright futures ahead of them. We give this restaurant our strongest endorsement and plan on returning this fall.
My wife noticed all the great reviews for Capt George's, especially the assistance of the manager Josh Kraft in navigating the buffet. It was better than you are reading. Despite the crowds, Josh took his time with me, answered all ?'s, and offered to provide alternatives from the kitchen when possible. Several times throughout the night he stopped by our table to see if there was anything more he could do. I know many people with Celiac will not chance a buffet, I did with no issues and pleased that I did.
Captain George's was great! You can really get your money's worth. Josh Kraft is the manager and is very knowledge about celiac disease. He walked me through the buffet line and told me what I could have and what he could alter for me. Great place!
The manager ( Josh Kraft) was well informed about gluten allergy/celiac disease because his wife is gf. He walked me thru every buffet station and showed me what was safe and not safe. He also offered to make me several items (tilapia, ribs, and a few others) in the back without sauces on them. They have Udis dinner rolls and cookies as well.
Wow! Food=amazing, service= outstanding!!!! We were helped by Joe, one of the managers, who was very knowledgeable and extremely attentive. They made everything special in the back and were certain to make sure we would never starve. He made sure it was all gluten free and since I was also pregnant he helped make sure that I was not exposed to anything not pregnancy safe. 10 stars for this place!
I came in knowing I would have to ask for a menu, however the waiter didn't seem to care whether or not I was gluten intolerant. I did order the chicken meal with rice pilaf and fresh fruit, but for the $$$ we spent it could have been much better. Hubby got the buffet and ate almost nothing. Almost everything on the buffet was fried, so if you are trying to eat a healthier lifestyle, this is not the place to go. The atmosphere was terrible.
One of the best experiences I have had since being gluten free (2008 ). Josh walked us through to show us all the options. Also offered to bring things from kitchen so no chance of cross contamination. They are also trying to work with some companies to give more roll and dessert options.
OMG!!! Best food experience I've had in a long time....gluten friendly!! To the max!!! Josh walked me through the bar and told me what was ok....then made SEVERAL special items and brought to my table!! 5 stars...2 thumbs up....highly recommend!!
Wow! The manager, Josh, was great. He walked through the entire buffet and then had certain items prepared and brought to the table. It's so rare to be catered too in a positive way these days. We had a large party as well and they took excellent care of us! Other restaurants could certainly learn from this place. An absolute must visit while in Myrtle Beach!
Amazing buffet, the restaurant, food and service are top notch. When I asked about allergy information, the waitress said a manager would give me a walk thru of the buffet. The manager, Josh, was very pleasant, he introduced himself to my family and chit-chatted before going over to the buffet. His knowledge of the celiac lifestyle was extensive and he covered which buffet items did not contain gluten. Also which items could be sent from the kitchen to the table without a sauce or other addition that would keep them gluten free.
AMAZING!!! We came based on the recommendations from Find Me Gluten Free and were not disappointed. The Manager John was super nice and very informed. This was by far the best GF experience at a restaurant we have ever had! Also the food was amazing. Delicious and flavorful. Will most definitely be back again.
Read the previous reviews which was very helpful in deciding to eat here. The manager john was very attentive and knowledgable about celiac and showed my sin what he could eat at the bar - anything that may have been cross contaminated he got directly from the kitchen. I'm glad he was there because the staff we dealt with had no idea what celiac was - thank you john!
Ate my weight in shrimp and crab legs, but the manager John was wonderful! Great location for people who are gluten free - highly recommend it!
Excellent! John Long is one of the managers that was very knowledgeable about gluten and all allergens. He took us through a personal tour of the entire buffet. Any items that could have possible cross contamination via the bar were offered to my husband to be brought fresh from the kitchen. The food was delicious, and there were more than enough gf options. We will be making this a yearly tradition.
Awesome place to eat! John, allergist specialist, gave me a tour of the buffet pertaining to what was gf and what wasn't. Very friendly staff and very nice atmosphere. Having a wheat allergy is difficult but this place made it very easy! Wish they had this place in my hometown!
Excellent customer service and so accommodating. Staff will have the chef come and walk you down the buffet explaining what you can and can not have. They will even prepare you something from the kitchen if you don't want the buffet. We will be returning again!
Highly recommend this place for delicious seafood and all u can eat crab legs! Josh the manager was so kind and helpful. Very knowledgeable about celiac and gluten free. Walked me through the entire buffet and offered to remake many dishes specially in the kitchen gluten free for me. I was shocked to hear that the drawn butter has gluten in it, but the melted margarine was safe for the crab legs. Explains why I've always had a stomachache with drawn butter! Arrive early to avoid crazy lines, come hungry, and ask for Josh Kraft.
Went due to all recommendations here. Arrived only to be handed a menu that was not at all helpful by the manager that night. I would not recommend this place if you can not get tour as the menu was very vague. Statements such as "anything with sea legs". Certainly is not very descriptive. No tour of the buffer was offered by the manager just the vague menu.
When we got there (me my mother and my grandma, and we all have celiac) told the waiter we were gluten free and so he went to the Josh (the manager) and alerted him and shortly josh came over and gave us all a tour of what does and doesn't have gluten, as well as putting in some special orders to make a few things from the buffet gf. The place was great and the food was amazing! A must if you're in the area!
Food was decent. Good selection of gf options. Usually buffets are a no no with celiac. I decided to chance it and was pleasantly surprised. I got there at opening. Got a gf tour from manager and filled up plates at the get go. Wanted to avoid any risk of cross contamination. Manager was knowledgeable of the options. It is pricey but you get $3 off by coming in early
Ask for Josh (manager) he will walk you through the buffet and point out all GF. He is very knowledgeable as he has a family member who is gf. Also, when eating off of the buffet some of the items can be prepared gf if you just ask. The gf tilapia is delicious!
Some advice: don't trust the buffet, ask for a menu - it will be SO much fresher, cooked by the chef specifically for someone with an intolerance, and not overpriced. Server was fairly knowledgeable and quickly offered to ask the chef of anything he wasn't sure of. He brought me a copy of the menu with the gluten free items marked on it. I had a really delicious broiled mahi with a mango sauce on the side, and a baked potato and steamed zucchini. My meal did come with a salad from the salad bar, and unfortunately only one dressing (Italian) was gluten free.
The manager will walk you around the buffet and let you know which foods are safe to eat.
