The manager came out and told me if I didn’t feel comfortable with the food at the buffet due to cross contamination, they would make a separate meal for me in the kitchen. They were so understanding and happy to do it. They fixed me steak, peel and eat shrimp and steamed broccoli. I also was able to eat crab legs from the buffet. For dessert, they brought out two warm Udis snickerdoodle cookies. I was so pleased with our experience there and had no reactions at all. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to someone with celiac.

It’s a buffet but they have a separate app to scan to see what is gluten free on the buffet for the gf person! Also, they will prepare something for you without the sauce or seasoning in the back on separate pan. And they check on you throughout the meal. It’s the first all you can eat that does that! Amazing experience and worth the money!

When I arrived at the restaurant I told our waiter that I have celiacs and he had the manager come to our table. When the manager arrived he had a card with a QR code for me to scan. It brought me to a list of food allergies, I choose gluten and wheat of course. There was a large list of food allergies or even just preferences. After I submitted my response it brought me to a list of all of the food on the buffet that I could eat. He also informed me that the chicken, steak, and salmon were not gluten free because of the seasoning, but they could cook them in the back for me at no additional charge. He also offered to do the same thing with other items I didn’t see on the menu, within reason of course! They even had gf dessert options icecream, cookies, rice pudding, and chocolate pudding. The food was delicious and I had not symptoms after eating here. The service was AMAZING!!!

This place was great! The manager was very well informed of gluten in the food. They had me scan a QR code where I chose the allergy items and it brought up exactly the foods I was able to eat from the buffet. They also informed me of a new Udi's gluten free snickerdoodle cookie they had just gotten in. They also gave me a specific gluten free menu that could be ordered from as well. Overall, I was very impressed.

The manager gave me a QR code to scan that showed all items that are gluten free. If there was any item on the buffet that was not listed as gluten free but I believed it could be made gluten free, the chef would prepare it without gluten. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful, and I was able to eat without getting sick!

We had read the positive reviews on Find Me Gluten Free and that they had a gluten free menu so we made reservations for dinner. Once we got there and saw the menu, I learned everything on the GF menu was the same safe entrees, grilled scallops, grilled salmon, grilled steaks, etc. I realize and appreciate that they have a gluten free menu but I was so disappointed. We would never have made reservations if I had seen the menu before we arrived but their menu was not to be found on the internet. We left.

Great experience. My celiac boys (13 and 11) were so excited to be able to eat at a buffet! The manager walked us through and even had grilled chicken made for my son straight from the kitchen. Ask for the Udi’s cookies for dessert (they come individually wrapped). Will def eat there next time!

Just an okay experience! The price is way too high for there to be so few options. They are great at marking allergens and letting you know what is safe though. Even with that I didn’t feel safe eating anything that was self serve due to the risk so I ate crab legs and ice cream. Wouldn’t go back. No reaction.

We ate at The Sea Captain’s House this passed week. I am new to Gluten Free, Dairy Free, also have a shellfish allergy. Our waitress Julie Ann was incredible. She made sure the main course was free of all my problem items. She came back a few times to inform me of dairy or gluten in certain foods. I had the most delicious meal with no worries. I had no problems at all after this meal. Kudos to Julie Ann and The Sea Captain’s house.

Ask and a manager will walk you personally through the buffet. Obviously you are in danger of cross contamination on an buffet but it is always clean and there are plenty of options. As someone who is also dairy free I brought my own butter which they encourage and thought was very clever. Large percentage of the buffet was both dairy and gluten free.

I brought my daughter, who is Celiac, here for dinner. The manager came out and personally walked us through the buffet areas to point out what is gluten free. I was impressed at the selection of gluten-free items that they had available but a person will need to be careful about cross contamination at a buffet. Luckily, my daughter didn’t have any issues and enjoyed her meal. We would definitely go back.

The manager was kind enough to give me a tour of the buffet to show me what food was gf. However, there are a lot of items and it may be more helpful to have a gf menu. Still, plenty of choices and I felt safe at least eating the crab legs!

This is a buffet, so I would normally avoid it, however their website made promising statements about their gluten-free options so we gave it a try. Although their website promised that those who are gluten-free could request that their food selections could be served directly from the kitchen to eliminate the possibility of cross-contamination, we had to have a stern conversation with our server and talk to the manager just to get a safe salad for my daughter who has celiac disease. Then he didn’t bring any dressing for the salad, so by the time we flagged him down to get the dressing we had been there 30 min! The manager provided a QR code to scan so we knew which buffet items were gluten-free, but the cross-contamination risk seemed high. The crab legs were separate from the buffet line and served by an employee, so that seemed like the safest option. So we paid $49 for some crab legs and a salad. If you are gluten-sensitive, not celiac, this place has a decent number of options, but my Celiac daughter felt anxious about it and the food was just okay.

So I had been her prior to being celiac and always had good experiences. I had searched their website and it said that there was gf options and they could help get things from the back. The waiter gave me a hard time about wanting a salad fresh from the kitchen to prevent cross contamination. While the food was good and they did eventually give me a salad it was overall a super stressful and frustrating experience. Would recommend for gf but not celiac.

First time here and it was pretty good! Salad is obviously GF. potato salad and coleslaw are also GF. Crab legs, steamed shrimp, clams, etc (other steamed seafood). Their GF snickerdoodle cookie is absolutely amazing! I had two! I didn't care for the fish and the baked chicken- the seasoning was not good, in my opinion. It was juicy still and I just took off the skin. Waiters were great.

I was not overly confident at first because it is a buffet and there were hundreds of people. There is a high risk of cc, BUT with that being said, my experience here was wonderful. The manager came out and walked me through each bar, telling me what all was gf and what wasn’t. Then brought out warm Udi’s snickerdoodle cookies for dessert. The crab and pretty much all sea food that is not fried is gf, as are the veggies, meat and potatoes. I ate there for dinner this evening and so far have not reacted 🤞🏻

It's an all you can eat buffet. There's no menu but as others have stated, the manager will come out walk with you down the buffet line and point out every item that is GF. He will also let you know what itmes contains the fake crab meat as that contains gluten. Her wil make sure that you understand completely what is safe and not safe. He had the kitchen make especially for me grilled shrimp and scallops seasoned but completely GF. I don't normally like buffets because the foods tend to be tasteless but everything we ate was delicious. It is pricey but definitely worth it.

Tell your waitress you would like to know what is gluten free. A manager will walk you around the buffet and show you everything that is gluten free.
There were MANY gluten free food options as well as sauces. The only desserts that were gluten free were puddings and ice cream.

So, I can’t say for sure if this place is safe for everyone because we all have our own issues. But, 3 out of 4 of us are gluten free. (Celiac likely) One that is gluten free is also corn free. The manager John did an amazing job of answering all of my questions. As a Momma, I just wanna make sure we can eat safely and boy did we! We haven’t eaten at a buffet in who knows how long. The manager made a couple of things special for my corn and gf kid but overall he was able to eat what we did. The joy in his face was worth the whole visit!
My experience was amazing! I felt alittle embarrassed because they took an extra steps tos make sure I was doing well. The Manager, Delmar walked me through the buffet and even offered to make me anything on the buffet that I wanted if I was concerned about cross contamination. I have never had so many safe options. I didn't get sick at all and went back to our condo completely stuffed. It was really nice to have my own rolls and warm cookies brought to me by Delmar. He came by and checked on me at the table and when I was up getting food. I would still be concerned about cross contamination for a celiac, but it's amazing for gluten intolerant.
August 2017: 5+ Stars!! We were traveling with a large group, with varying ages and opinions; so I did a lot of research prior to selecting Captain George's for our seafood dinner. More than any buffet in the area, most of the reviews I read were positive and the selling point for me was the g-free information listed right on the website. We were seated right away and although our waiter was not the friendliest during our meal, we had our drinks within minutes & they were never empty! Now for the gluten free: the manager walked me around and pointed out every gluten free option on the vast buffet and even provided a brief description on some of the dishes. He also offered a gluten free option of many of the "glutened" dishes and had them made special. I didn't feel worried about cross contamination like many other buffets, the glutened items were not near the g-free items, the fried foods were completely separate. The manager was very knowledgeable on the gluten free lifestyle! Bring your appetite, since they made me special foods I felt awful not eating it all...so much food! I had a smorgasbord! It is pretty pricey though..$40 a person...but you do get a seafood feast!
If you are looking for a seafood buffet in Myrtle Beach...Captain George's is your best choice for everyone! The only other place I received this hands on service was at Disney!
August 2019: Our second trip to Myrtle and Captain George’s was on the top of our itinerary! Manager walked me around and explained each dish and what was GF. I didn’t get many substitutions this time but manager did tell me to let them know if I was concerned about cross contamination and they would make special. This is one of the few buffets I can visit and not worry about cross contamination.

I am always very skeptical of buffets, but the food was delicious, the staff were a pleasure, and the manager personally walked me through the entire buffet to tell me what I could and couldn’t eat. Sometimes I get embarrassed about these things but he was very kind. He even offered to make things in the back for me if I was uncomfortable with cross contamination.
Manager came to the table to explain what was safe to eat. Prepared a special steak for my son as well which was very considerate. The website lists foods that are gluten free so you can get an idea ahead of time. We will definitely be back next time we visit Myrtle Beach!

Very accommodating. A manager showed my fiancé around the buffet and brought him out items that were celiac friendly from the kitchen to avoid contamination. Food was bland and lacked season that they brought him but they looked into sauces and dips they had available to insure they were safe and brought them out. Our wait staff Courtney B and Taylor were very attentive and helpful all along. Could not recommend more. My fiancé is very sensitive to cross contamination and never got sick afterwards. Amazing experience

Terrific for people with celiac...manager walked us thru the buffets pointing out all gf selections. The would prepare something gf if they had it and it wasn’t gf on the buffet. They broiled scallops and offered to grill steaks to accommodate our needs.
The food was amazing. The Manager came out and walked me through everything I could eat. Also brought food from the kitchen to ensure that in case people might have cross contaminated by using same utensils on buffet. The gf dessert was great as well. They really understood Celiac and I had a great meal out!

By far the best gluten free service I have ever gotten at a restaurant. They deserve more than 5 stars! Notify your server immediately of gluten allergy and a manager will provide a personal tour through the buffet to show you what is safe(and offered to cook things gluten free that would not have been Gf off the the buffet). This is a new family favorite as we have two gluten free family members.

Even though I read almost every review on here, I was still skeptical but they really impressed me. My friend is a celiac, it's really hard to find foods that she can and she will literally get sick even with a bit of cross contamination. We brought our nima but never had to use it. The manager John Sharp was very knowledgeable and even mention to us about not eating certain foods that can cause cross contamination. He even offered to make a couple dishes in the kitchen specially so that my friend can try some of the foods that supposed to have gluten but our was GF. It was a phenomenal experience we never had this type of selection for GF foods before and this type of service. He even came back and got us snicker doodles that was sooooo good. And overall everyone was very nice to us. We literally came back two days later for our final dinner before leaving from vacation. Will come back to Myrtle beach one day just for this place.

I felt like I was in Disney! Most accommodating and knowledgeable staff. The manager brought me out gf shrimp and scallops and at the end the best snickerdoodle cookies I have ever had (and they were warm)!!! The crab legs were awesome. All of the veggies are GF. LOVED IT!!!

Wow! What a great experience! The manager, Josh Kraft, went above and beyond to make sure my gluten allergy was accommodated. In addition to that, he provided me with a list of local restaurants that cater to food allergies, and he told me about this app. Highly recommend Captain George's! Ask for Josh!
Amazing!! The manager, Josh, took the time to walk me through the various options available at the buffet, and then surprised my family and I with a dish (which had gluten in it on the buffet table ) which he had remade for me to be gluten free! Everything was delicious, and I loved all the different gluten free food choices they had available. We will definitely return!

Had a wonderful time at Captain George. The manager, Brittany was so nice and helpful. She walked me through and showed me all the gluten free food and since they didn't have grilled scallops out, they special made me some and also a baked potato too and gf Udi rolls! She came by my table lots of times and checked to see if everything was ok along with my waiter. Then she got them to bake me Gf Snickerdoodle cookies. It was awesome! Definitely worth the money and I would definitely go back. Brittany was wonderful and I appreciated her concern.
Very celiac friendly. The manager took his time to tell me everything on the menu that I could safely eat. He even gave me a free gluten free snickerdoodle plus one to take home. He gave our table gluten free dinner rolls as well. I'm here in vacation so it was really nice to be in a comfortable place. Very friendly!

The staff was great! They show you what you can have. The manager made me & my son an ice sandwich dessert with Udi’s cookies and ice cream!!! So happy we actually had a nice dessert for once!!!
Manager walked me through to show me what I could eat. So good.

Perfect for Celiac folks!! I was very appreciative of the Manager, John guiding me through all the GF safe options on the buffet bar as well as from the kitchen. He brought me GF bread with my meal and for dessert snickerdoodle cookies!! The wait staff were so friendly!! I will definitely visit again!

Absolutely safe! Delicious, fresh seafood, steamed and poached. Superior service all around. The manager, John Sharpe, was knowledgeable and attentive to our needs and as other reviews stated, he toured us around the buffet to tell us what was truly gfree. He brought us dishes straight from the chef for some items we weren’t sure would have cross-contamination, and was so pleasant about it! We would definitely return. I have celiac and get severely sick and my son is gluten intolerant— we were both so happy and we all enjoyed a delicious, fun night out! The decorations are so pretty too- ship themed!! Go enjoy fresh seafood!!

I was nervous to come here after reading some reviews but have no fear. I had an amazing experience. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and her husband,Will, was the head manager. Great team and great service. Will took me around the buffer and explained what I could have and couldn't. He was amazing! The buffet has more than I expected on it. Definitely enough for me to justify the cost. Anything I couldn't have, he offered to prepare it in the kitchen safely. I have celiacs so he even explained the Rice pudding was GF BUT was prepared in their kitchen around four so offered me a GF packaged cookie or brownie they have which they warm up for you safely. Great experience and looking to come back again. Just remember to ask for Will!

didn’t even eat there. asked her about the gluten free menu advertised and she had no clue and said it’s probably just on the buffet. you would have to buy a $50 buffet to be able to eat the little bit of gluten free stuff that could be contaminated. if you didn’t get the buffet then you would have to automatically wait an extra 35 minutes to get your food.
