Castaway Bay

My celiac 9 yr old was invited to go with a friend for the weekend. I was very nervous but spoke with the food and beverage manager who certainly knew about cross contamination and food safety. Unfortunately he neglected to tell me he’d be on vacation when she was there. Fortunately, Britney (a manager or something) booked my daughter up all weekend with safe food. No tummy troubles at all. She loved the GF pizza and cheesy bread that they clearly marked. Is this the perfect GF place? No, but they went the extra mile for my kiddo and I’m grateful. I’d say this is safe for a short trip but the food options would get boring if more than a day or two.

I agree with the other reviews. At the breakfast buffet we were told the only thing we could eat was fruit. They need to do a better job here.

I’m giving this place a 1 star only because I can’t give it zero stars. No gluten free options, period. Breakfast foods at the buffet were the only maybe questionable exception, we didn’t risk it. No safe snacks at the pool deck. On top of the food issues, this place was disgusting. Our room was ready an hour late because they were “cleaning it.” When we got in there it was so gross. Food crumbs all over the floor, something that looked like public hair in the bathroom sink, crumbs on the pull out mattress pad, and a used menstrual pad on the bathroom floor - all of which was discovered AFTER we had called room-keeping back in to re-vacuum the floor. Needless to say we won’t be going back, even with the discounts they offered us. Stay away.

The coffee shop had no gluten free options and the restaurant had no gluten free options. This staff were uninformed and acted like they were irritated by the question. This is a terrible resort for the gluten free family.

There is no castaway bay restaurant. It's a hotel. I talked to the staff and their room service is not gluten free either. So I have no idea what this listing is for.
