It's marked on their menu that all the plates are gluten free and dairy free. They come with meat, rice, and a cup of chili or you can sub that for coleslaw. I ate at this restaurant 3 times at different locations around the island and didn't seem to have any reaction! It's good BBQ and good sized portion of meat.

Almost everything is GF. I had the salad no croutons with bbq chicken. Was good!

I got the sampler platter, but the star was the chicken and pulled beef. Menu is marked gf and the staff was reasonably knowledgeable.

The first time we went (2022) my celiac daughter had the ribs. The woman who took our order was not only knowledgeable and helpful, but also said she had celiac. We had the ribs with no sides or sauce. I took my daughter back this year and the woman who took my order could not have been more dismissive and rude when I asked her to confirm which items were GF, and also if she knew if the rice was safe. She explained that “I don’t know about that stuff” and rolled her eyes, so we stuck with the plain chicken and ribs only! Very yummy despite the grumpy employee!

Delicious! All 7 main items clearly marked GF and bbq sauce is gf. No issues for my celiac daughter and she ate everything!

All rubs are “made in a facility that also processes wheat.” (According to staff). Marked as “gluten free,” but may contain wheat. Didn’t order anything so can’t comment on the quality of the food.

We enjoyed the sampler platter. Ribs and chicken were our favorites. Tested with Nima sensor and found it to be GF. Chili was very different. Very tomatoey and greasy.

Many items on the menu were marked as gluten free and the girl that took my order also had celiac so assured me that my food would be safe. Everything was very good and I did not get sick.

Amazing food and I did not get a reaction! I ate the pork ribs and the menu seems to be almost fully gluten free. I highly recommend!

I ate at chicken in a barrel three times while in Kauai. I just ordered the quarter chicken and coleslaw and did not get sick at all. They knew about celiac and also showed me their spice rub just to make sure. I would highly recommend. I ate at 3 different locations and they were all fantastic!
Yes
Meats were good and no reaction from our celiac daughter. Fries have a flour coating and non dedicated fryer - so while delicious definitely not celiac friendly.
This location has burgers, and a GF bun is available! They also have tacos, bbq, and salads. Regular fries are coated in flour, so not GF. The sweet potatoes are fried in the same fryer as everything else. Food is good. Five stars for staff - very consistent training on gluten.
They are amazing. Highly would recommend.

Chicken in a Barrel was just ok! The chicken itself was decent, but the fries aren’t gf and it didn’t feel like there was a ton of variety. All of their rubs and sauces are gf, though. I got a house salad with chicken and ranch, and didn’t have a reaction!

I’m not sure what the uncertainty is. I’m very sensitive to cross contamination and I didn’t have an issue. Maybe I got lucky. I would check with the waitstaff to be sure, but the meats were fine for me.

Tasty bbq. The fried food isn’t gf, neither is the beef or the chili (due to the base).
