Chipotle

Notes
"If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."

Once I told the lady at the end of the line that my daughter had celiac, she immediately took her gloves off and washed her hands before putting another pair on. She told the next person in the food line to do the same. Every caution was taken to prevent cross contamination.

I went there today and I didn't even mention gluten allergy and everything was prefect I got a bowl with chicken and it was great. I am not celiac but gluten intolerant. Finally a restaurant that basically the entire menu is gluten free.

I absolutely love chipotle but get sick every single time I go. Despite that they change gloves, the spoons inside the bar still touch the flour tortillas and therefore contaminate the foods. I've watched them and it seems that the spoons that touch the wheat tortillas the most are the rice and beans because they are the first in the lineup. So if you want to chance it, skip the rice and beans. Also skip the first lettuce bin because they touch that with their hands and use the same hands to roll up the Burritos.

One of my go-to places for a quick, somewhat healthy and inexpensive meal. I always get the bowls. Do note that the sofritas filling has gluten, and of course the flour tortillas - but that's it! I love that the chips are totally safe, no cross contamination, and their guac is delicious. You can ask them to change your gloves when you get to the bar and they don't care to do it!

Seems to be hit or miss for me. Most of the time I'm fine eating here, but sometimes I do feel a little sick afterwards. Made the mistake of eating here once right before going to the movies... Ended up in the bathroom during the opening scenes... The workers at this particular location don't seem as interested in being accommodating as other locations I've been to.

I had to post here as I noticed Chipotle did not get a 5 star rating. I wondered what people thought they were lacking. They do more for gluten free than any place I've been to and they are only a fast food chain. They change gloves, wipe counters, and don't mix cheese with lettuce to avoid cross contamination. Only 1 menu item has gluten, four tortilla. You can even eat the salad dressing.

I went here for the first time since being diagnosed with Celiac because I had a coupon for a free burrito. I informed the staff (a very young guy, 25 at the very oldest) that I had a gluten allergy and he looked at my in the most befuddled way. He had never heard of gluten, so I ultimately told him I was allergic to wheat. He told me I couldn't eat their flour tortillas - really?! Thank you for pointing out the obvious. He began to prepare my bowl without changing his gloves (this should be a standard allergy protocol), and he wasn't pleased when I asked him to change them and begin again. He also had little information about the ingredients in their salsa, etc. and their cross-contamination procedures. By some miracle, I ended up being okay after eating my food, but I'd be very hesitant to go in again. Chipotle really should be doing more training for new staff.

Always good options, although there is a chance of cross contamination in certain toppings even if the server changes their gloves. Some items like lettuce and cheese are served by hand (instead of scooped with dedicated spoons) so if someone earlier in the day ordered a flour tortilla and the server touched the tortilla and also the cheese/lettuce there could be remnants of gluten on those toppings.

They changed their gloves after my request and explanation of needing Gluten Free. The girl serving me made some rude comment about it to the cook and both turned to look at me. She then put her new gloves down on top of the flour shell contaminating them again. I asked for a corn tortilla kids meal quesadilla and she said there was no longer corn tortillas available. I told her i was just at another location a week ago and they had. She was extremely rude and said " well we dont carry them anymore." She was very unaccommodating and clearly needs more training on what gluten free means.

Good awareness and training of GF issues. Tell them that you need to order GF, and the team member will re-glove and walk your order down the line - what a great process! The only possible cross contamination is when a gluten containing order comes down the line, if the team member is touching gluten tortillas, and then is grabbing cheese or lettuce, there may be some cross contamination in those products - Celiac community is stiff figuring this level of CC out. But, their process and food are great! If you can avoid cheese and lettuce, then the rest should be 100% GF.

Chipotle is a reliable fast food chain (Mexican - higher end than Taco Bell) to get healthy gf options. The burrito bowl is the most reliable option (no tortillas). Corn tortillas are gf, however you need to make sure they put foil on the warmer and change gloves to avoid cross contamination.

At my turn I told the guy that I had two "allergy" orders (easier than explaining Celiac) and it was as if an alarm bell went off. I have eaten here twice. The first time they were slow and I got a burrito bowl with rice carnitas, black beans, fresh salsa and cheese. I ate it with no problem. The second time they were busy and I got the exact same bowl. The employees were friendly and took precautions by changing gloves and having only one person make it. However, there is a ton of cross contamination. The spoon they use touch flour tortillas and then back in the serving dish, the other employees touched flour tortillas and then grabbed cheese with the same hand, etc. And unfortunately I ended up sick after eating the burrito bowl. If you are only slightly sensitive then you should be fine but if you have celiacs don't chance it.
