Chipotle

Notes
"If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."

We came in and mentioned a gluten allergy- not only did they change their gloves but changed the utensils for everything I had wanted. Then took out a different cheese and lettuce for my bowl! Have never had any issues! They do an awesome job avoiding cross contamination. They also always mark my bowl- even when we only leave with 2!

They were super nice when I said I have celiac and asked them to changed their gloves. Not only did the changed their gloves but changed the spoons to dish up my food, wiped down the counters and got new containers of food to use for my meal. I will definitely be going back!

Recently diagnosed, and first time eating out. I had done my research before going, but I the server what I could have with my condition. She knew here, stuff but clarified with another worker on the line to make sure she was 100% right, they all then changed gloves before serving. When asked what I wanted on it, I was still wary and just went for a topping of cheese. To which the server went through into the store and came out with a completely fresh tub of cheese, saying "we don't want any contamination do we". Top notch Chipolte, and great education of your staff!

I have a severe gluten allergy, but my reaction is not immediate, so unfortunately I won't know about exposure for a few days. Fingers crossed as I have very little confidence after dining here. We were travelling and found this location and went eagerly based on the review. The lack of people in the facility at prime dinner hour perhaps should have been a red flag. The staff were all very young, not very helpful and somewhat lacking in customer service and personality in general. They were OUT of rice and guacamole. Seriously?!?! Mexican restaurant...no rice, no guac. no explanation, no apologies, and no alternatives offered. The chips were terribly stale....all 4 bags. And as any Chipotle frequenter knows, you have to buy chips separately. My steak was poorly cooked as well, but now I'm just being picky. We love Chipotle. We often seek it out when travelling because we know it well and eat there often. If this had been our first experience, we would NEVER have returned for a second.

Chipotle can be gluten free if you know how to work the system. here's the trick I use: order online and specify in the instructions that you're allergic to gluten and to have them change their gloves. this will ensure your meal is prepared properly even if there's a long line. then only get meat, rice and beans (I don't get beans because it's cheaper that way). they handle a lot of the veggies with glutened gloves and this way only one person needs to change their gloves because the meat and rice are right next to each other, away from the veggies.

This was a exceptional Chipotle. I mentioned I had a wheat allergy and they without question changed gloves, serving spoons, and even pulled out a separate cheese and lettuce supply. They even took the time to wipe down the counter to prevent any sort of cross contamination! Edit: I came back to lower my review from 5 to 4 stars. Basically, this place is hit or miss with when it comes to allergies. It depends on who is serving you. Some of their staff knows what to do and others do not. Thankfully, no one has complained or looked annoyed when I asked them to change gloves or get the cheese from the second container.

Most Chipotle restaurants are quite good and well trained. Not this one! As she was asking me what I wanted, she was pulling a flour tortilla out of the stack. I said that I needed Gluten free. She seemed confused but then found the allergen card, and proceeded to try to tell me the flour tortillas did NOT have Gluten. English seemed to be a problem, so she got someone else to help me who at least had a rudimentary understanding of the issue and changed her gloves. Much more training and standardization needed to bring this store up to normal Chipotle standards.

It depends on who is working that day. Some are ok, others will be annoyed by the request to change gloves and use extra caution. Don't get cheese on your meal. Even if the person preparing your meal had clean gloves on, all others have stuck their hands into the cheese after handling a flour tortilla. no one ever offered to get cheese or other topping from a fresh container for me. I won't go back.
