I went here for the first time since being diagnosed with Celiac because I had a coupon for a free burrito. I informed the staff (a very young guy, 25 at the very oldest) that I had a gluten allergy and he looked at my in the most befuddled way. He had never heard of gluten, so I ultimately told him I was allergic to wheat. He told me I couldn't eat their flour tortillas - really?! Thank you for pointing out the obvious. He began to prepare my bowl without changing his gloves (this should be a standard allergy protocol), and he wasn't pleased when I asked him to change them and begin again. He also had little information about the ingredients in their salsa, etc. and their cross-contamination procedures. By some miracle, I ended up being okay after eating my food, but I'd be very hesitant to go in again. Chipotle really should be doing more training for new staff.
I must have gone in on an off day. I disagree with other reviewers on this one! Chipotle is usually such an accommodating restaurant but server actually sighed and shrugged when I told him of gf allergy. He did not wash hands, wipe down counter or offer to get new cheese and lettuce. He looked at me as if he had never performed this gf protocol before. Disappointed !
Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.
From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
They're so nice here. I go usually once a week, and they the whole protocol once I walk in the door- change gloves, wipe down the counter, only one person handles my food. They're wicked nice over here and as long as someone who isn't new is working there, you're safe!
Staff is super friendly and change their gloves every time I go in. Most of the food is gluten free- so I choose a salad or rice bowl. Yummy food, great prices, great staff
Very knowledgable workers! Changed gloves immediately, and got new utensils as well! Burrito Bowl is safe! One of the salsas is not but for the most part, it's good. :)
Yes
Best GF fast food experience so far. They didn’t make me feel weird or like I took too much time. I told them I have a gluten allergy and the line stopped. They changed spoons for what I ordered, wiped down the counter, got out fresh cheese and lettuce, changed gloves, and one person took charge of my order seeing it through to the end of the line. I know there’s still a risk, but I’m thankful for all they did to help me eat with my family.

I was a little concerned when I read it had been two years since the last review, but I went and as soon as I told the server I had celiac, she immediately offered to wipe down the surfaces and change gloves. She did it so cheerfully also!

Lots of gluten free options, good choice for catering, and ability to sort through gluten free options by using their dietary filter online. There are good options available if you're dairy free/vegan as well!

While there’s obviously a chance of cross contamination, the workers here are very nice and accommodating. Everything except for the tortillas is gluten free. I always ask them to change their gloves and this past time a worker felt her glove touch the tortillas after changing them so she immediately changed them again! They never have a problem getting lettuce or cheese from the back which I appreciate! I have not had a reaction here yet and I am very sensitive!

I told the server I was gluten sensitive, and she immediately changed gloves and handled all my food herself.
