I’ve had good experiences here. The protocol is for the server to check in with both the manager and the kitchen when you have an allergy or celiac. They were able to do a separate bacon order for our table and made clear it was GF when they brought it. The menu isn’t the most extensive in terms of options but the food is good!

This place is not good for gluten-free, at least for brunch. There were basically no options, they seemed dismissive about gluten-free, and the member of our party who was gluten intolerant got sick after eating here. They can't do any brunch meats (bacon, sausage) gluten-free which imo is pretty basic. Basically the only options for brunch are eggs with no meat and no bread or gluten-free pancakes that are definitely not kept from cross-contamination. Avoid for brunch.

Beware the gluten free marked items on the menu. We ordered the ginger chicken bowl which was marked GF on the menu and it been double checked with the chef because my friend who ordered it has celiac. They double confirmed and then it arrived with a soy sauce based sauce on it. Luckily she suspected it could have soy sauce when she saw the dish and we confirmed with the waitress it did, she took it away, apologized and we ordered her another option. I wrote to the restaurant to have them educate their kitchen and staff but they still have it marked GF on their menus. Makes me question the other items.

Finding breakfast while traveling is difficult for us, so it’s very exciting to find a restaurant that serves safe gluten free pancakes! The pancakes were very soft and fluffy and were served with warm apple compote which was all very delicious. I asked and the waitress said that they understand and can handle cross contamination practices and that my pancakes and side of bacon would be safe for me to eat. I really enjoyed my experience and the rest of my family loved their meals too. We will surely be visiting again!

I’d been for dinner and been fine, but I went for brunch and ordered GF pancakes and bacon. Reaction! I even asked for new pans, new gloves, new utensils like I usually would but I definitely reacted shortly after. Bummer.

DC options for breakfast seem very limited so this is a better place to go if you communicate well enough.

The first time I went my partner (coeliac) order scrambled eggs and bacon being told it was all gluten free. When we returned he was told he couldn’t have the bacon because it was pre-fried in the same oil as everything else. Fortunately he felt fine but was still pretty disappointing.

Would still recommend however make sure you communicate extremely well.

The waitress was kind when I asked about an item being totally GF (lettuce wraps, asked to verify the soy based sauce was GF). Menu labeled GF items but there weren't that many to choose from. The meal was good and I had no side effects. No extra measures to prevent x-contamination that I'm aware. Still good place to eat GF while traveling with non-GF people. Recommend.

Terrible service. I asked if they had gluten free toast and our waitress laughed and looked at me like I was an idiot for asking. The only thing that is “gluten free” is their pancake which tasted like baked play dough and was about as dense. After sitting with our bill for 15 mins we finally had to flag down a different server so that we could pay for our meal. For 3.5 people to eat we spent over $100 for breakfast. Needless to say, we will not be returning here for any of our future trips.

Amazing gluten free brunch!! Highly recommend making an advanced reservation as Commissary is a popular brunch spot. The pancakes are fluffy and delicious. The staff is knowledgeable in that the turkey sausage is fried so I had bacon instead. Delicious brunch!!

Loved the atmosphere- nice space indoors and outdoors. The wait staff was very helpful and seemed to get the gluten cross contact concern. Went out of their way to reassure my daughter. Was there for dinner. The gf cauliflower and scallion pancake appetizer was delicious.

It was amazing! They had a good selection of GF items labeled on the menu. The waiter also took the time to describe what items could be made gluten free. He knew what would and wouldn’t be cross contaminated. I got a GF eggs Benedict (using GF burger bun as toast) and it was incredibly delicious. I ate here back in October and got insanely sick. Not sure what happened because the waitress was very attentive and went back and forth from the kitchen many times to discuss allergens in the food. Be warned, all the grill items are on a shared grill and there’s no separate fryer, so no meat options are celiac safe. Even after just ordering a very basic salad, I still got very sick.

My wife and I ate here for breakfast this morning. She is not celiac but I am. She had the Protein Breakfast and I had the Pancake platter with blueberries and Peach compote. She like hers and said it was good but not phenomenal. Mine was outstanding and the GF pancakes were wonderful. So good I didn’t use any syrup and just used butter and fruit/compote. The cappuccino was very good (too small), turkey sausage was tasty, and good coffee to go. So far the best breakfast I’ve had in DC.

I’m celiac and did NOT get sick. I’d recommend others give this place a try. It is worth the walk from downtown or catch an Uber if you must.

I had a great experience! I told my waiter that I was gluten free and he asked if cross contamination would be an issue, because they would cook my meal in a separate pan rather than a shared grill. I was super happy to hear this! I got the filet medallions and mashed potatoes and it was delicious. I would definitely go back.

Great brunch menu and many gf options

Hostess was not nice. Waitress was not attentive at all. The whole table ran out of beverages several times. As for the GF, there are several options. I had the lemon and herb chicken, which was delicious. I also ordered the GF dessert, which not even average. The bananas were bruised and it was supposed to have hot fudge but turned out to be a chocolate syrup. Overall not a great experience.

This is really a 1.5 star review because at least they had the options... but the burger bun was really crumbly and flavorless and the other options for gluten-free were based on eliminating things from the menu items instead of customizing gluten-free dishes.

Amazing service. We sat at the bar for brunch and the bartender was extremely aware of food allergies and cross contamination. When I asked her if the soy milk and syrup were gluten free, she checked both packages and brought them over so I could personally check the ingredients. She made a note for my eggs to be cooked in a separate pan and told me that the gluten free pancakes were cooked in a separate area of the kitchen. Food was very good and would highly recommend this place! Will be back for sure.

I got the breakfast tacos and they were amazing! They also had Udis gluten free buns. Our server was knowledgeable and very friendly. The only downside is that their home fries are cross contaminated but after I started eating the tacos I forgot all about that!

GF markings on the menu and the manager was very helpful walking me through the celiac safe options (i.e. Nothing from their fryer which is shared). They were also able to clearly explain the cross contamination procedures and how they use separate pans/utensils for GF food. I got the roasted chicken and carrots. It was great! I visited for breakfast at 8am on a Tuesday (at opening) so there was no wait. I let my waitress know I have Celiac and she noted it on my check and double checked with the chef after I ordered. There are a number of items marked gf including pancakes, huevos rancheros, and breakfast tacos. The tacos were delicious! Crispy chorizo, fried egg, guacamole, etc.
