I adore this place and will definitely be back! Truly a hidden gem of the Tri-Cities. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and informative. They can make essentially everything on the menu gf and vegan. Vegan cheeses and milks, meat substitutes like jackfruit, soy curls, lions mane and king oyster mushrooms, and they only use avocado oil (no lard in any dishes).

I got the quesabarria with jackfruit which was delicious (if not a little heavy-handed on the vegan cheese but that’s just preference). Really want to try out the crepes sometime.

They didn’t have a separate allergen menu, but it sounds like they’re working on making one, and in the meantime they were very willing to answer questions and give suggestions.

This place was very yummy and according to the staff they could make almost everything gluten free. It was very comfortable and exciting to have so many options! Only issue I had was I asked if they had gluten free which is when they told me almost everything was gluten free. A different waitress came and asked if there was allergies at the table. I said yes I have celiac and she said I asked if the pollo a la creama could come gluten free Ashe said yes then asked if I wanted flour or corn tortillas. Lol may have just been a long day.

If you have celiac & have been craving a good Mexican restaurant then go here! The staff was amazing & the food was delicious. I can't remember the last time I had pre-entree warm chips & salsa at a restaurant. I highly recommend going here! I know I'll be a regular, it's my new favorite restaurant in town! 10/10 recommend

Ordered the strawberry banana crepe with their gf batter, taste was amazing, my very picky mother could not tell the difference between the gf batter and the full gluten batter, absolutely no reaction, the cook has multiple measures to prevent cross contact and told me he has not had a report of a reaction in 13 years. they offer all of their crepes gf as well as their mexan food. service was fantastic they were all extremely friendly

My children and I are gluten and dairy free, but that’s not the only reason why we love this restaurant. (Not celiac but we’re sensitive)

The service is wonderful. Always so friendly and helpful.

The food is DELICIOUS and SO full of flavor! I haven’t eaten a bad dish yet and I’ve tried many. Everyone we’ve brought or recommend go have said the same thing.

The restaurant is clean and we enjoy the ambiance with the beautiful resin tables and the pretty sunset mural on the walls. I also personally love the living plants.

The owner Al has brought our food to us multiple times and is always willing to talk and listen about how our experience is going and if there is anything they can improve.

The first time I ate there the server accidentally marked I had a soy allergy. The owner came over to verify since the dish I ordered had a dressing with soy. So caring!

I asked him if he could make a GF/DF elephant ear and he said YES! He said he could make a gluten free chimichanga! Just that it would take more time (I’m assuming because he’s making the tortilla from scratch).

I asked if he could make a GF/DF fried ice cream and he said he could if he could find a supply of dairy free ice cream.

He’s so willing to listen to suggestions for what his patrons are looking for.

In our conversation with the owner he said they have 5 different vegan cheese options, dairy free sour cream, a vegan chocolate sauce and gluten free Oreos.

Their gluten free crepe batter is chickpea and potato flour/starch. There is an up charge for GF crepes.

They can make gluten free corn chips too for chips and salsa! So I’m assuming they have a dedicated gluten free fryer.

They are willing to make accommodations for any allergies or dietary preferences. And not just excluding something, but making substitutions so you’re dish is still enjoyable and delicious.

I have been gluten free for 8 years and dairy free for 4. This is the first restaurant I’ve eaten at in the tri cities where I feel normal. I don’t have to have a salad with all these cheese, croutons and dressing removed. Im not limited to just a meat and veggie with no sauce. Or a burger with almost everything delicious missing. I don’t have to watch everyone else eat dessert while I get none. My children dont feel like they’re missing out.

At Crepe Haus & El Compadre were just normal diners. We’re not the odd ones out, and everyone enjoys their dinner. We fit in. And we’re made to feel like we aren’t a burden or asking too much.

It’s so refreshing.

While the restaurant is a little off the beaten path, it is not difficult to get to and is right off the main road. It’s in Kennewick off columbia center blvd by the Highway 240 interchange.

If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly recommend you do! You will not regret it!

I love El Compadre! They will make anything allergy friendly for whatever your allergies are! The owner Al is super knowledgeable and always learning more. The food is amazing!! Even the allergy friendly stuff tastes just as good as the “real thing”! Can not say enough good about my new favorite place that can feed all my family with our varying allergies/intolerances.

Delicious Mexican Food and Crepes!! We’ve eaten here several times with 2 celiacs in the family and never been sick!! Dedicated grill, dedicated fryer, dedicated crepe griddle. My best dining experience since my celiac diagnosis five years ago. I’ve been scared to eat out because of terrible experiences with accidental cross contamination.

The wait staff here were wonderful! They informed me about the practices they maintain to keep the restaurant safe for celiacs. They checked in on me often to make sure things were going well. There are only a few items on the menu that are not gluten free. What a difference from the usual 2-3 same choices at most restaurants!

Almost anything can be made gluten free in a separate area by cooks who are aware of cross contamination dangers.

One server told me that they have a dedicated fryer for tortilla chips and always keep a spare bag of gluten free tortilla chips on hand in case anything accidentally compromises the dedicated fryer.

The gluten free crepes are delicious and have the perfect texture. The gluten free crepe mix is used to make burritos. One of the things I’ve missed the most since going gluten free is sort, burrito-sized tortillas. El Compadre has made it possible for us to enjoy yummy burritos with that classic texture. I’m in love!

Stunning understanding of how to cook correctly, no lazy cooking wheat flour whatsoever in sauces or food, unlike almost all other Mexican restaurants in tri-cities, never understood why they all use wheat flour, never saw that in nyc where I lived before! Awesome, bizarre food place, perfect stop on a road trip for something memorable. We liked it so much we came here again on the way back. My husband heard that a man who owned El Compadre locations married a lady who owned a Crepe Haus, and they wanted to open a location that combined the two. The manager came and talked to us and said 99% of their food could be made gluten free. Their GF burritos are made with gluten free crepes. He also said they have GF Graham crackers and Oreos for anything on the menu with those. They also have a dedicated fryer for anything requested to be gluten free. They bring chips and salsa to your table. The salsa is gf, and the chips can be requested to be made gf. My only complaint was that there was no salt on the chips. I’ll include photos of the menu and food. Over the two visits, we had a gf super burrito (delicious but could’ve used some pico de gallo or salsa), The Boat crepe (like a BLT—very good but wish it came with a side), Raspberry Delight (amazing!), chicken pesto crepe (very good but could’ve used some salt and a side), and a S’moreo crepe (good but more like cookies and cream than a S’more and not as great as the raspberry delight). Haha, FYI, the restaurant is right next to Planned Parenthood and there were some people silently holding up signs outside that said, “God loves you and your baby.” Overall, we loved the restaurant and hope to come again on the next road trip.

Stopped at this spot on our road trip. The owner was there and super knowledgeable about gluten, very attentive and eager to learn. They have a dedicated fryer for gf options, but unfortunately the staff who is still training had crossed contaminated fryer when we visited. I was just appreciative that he was aware and warned me. Such great food! The crepes are made in a dedicated area. The owners are very aware of celiac needs. Two Menzies, one for authentic Mexican food and the other for crepes…. Sweet and savory ones! Yum!!
