Let me begin that we eat out at restaurants through the country despite our 6 y/o having both Celiac Disease (must avoid gluten) as well as multiple food allergies—all nuts (including shared cooking surfaces/manufacturing lines), egg, and soy protein (oil and lecithin are fine). We know to only order our daughter’s meal from a manager or chef and carry chef allergy cards they may keep back in the kitchen while preparing food. I consider ya seasoned diners with realistic expectations considering the restrictions within which she must eat. We don’t always require separate cooking ovens but do require certain protocols to ensure safety. When calling ahead and speaking directly to management today to assess safety of menu items, I was told they can not cater to one person’s needs! When I explained we did NOT expect fries (ie dedicated fryer) but were seeking only a safely prepared burger (no bun as I could bring my own), a steak, or chicken breast, I was rudely told this was not possible. I explained I understood separate grills might not be available but asked if they couldn’t just double wrap a meat (a restaurant standby) and then unwrap the outer layer with contaminants on it to plate it (or to allow me to) I was met with total resistance. So, I basically stayed, “so, this is not a place wheee you will make any accommodations,” he responded No! I thanked him for his honesty and ended the call swearing to never patronize this place when other credible options in the area are nearby. Really disappointed with the ignorance and may progress over my immediate frustration to proceed to speaking with another manager who might be more approachable. We have a family home in the area and would like to expand our dining options. This gentleman was not interested and rude! A shame some people are so ignorant.
