This place is closed and should be. over priced and small portions, they were really good at burning brussels sprouts and chicken!

Update 1/1/16: New menu is not as good (appears to be new ownership). Only strips and wings now (used to have breast/legs/thighs/wings/etc). No longer have corn or beans. Flavored were not as appealing to my family as previously.

Awesome comfort food option for a Celiac. Haven't had fried chicken in years.

It was so good!! The meat was juicy and the breaking wasn't dry like most GF breads/breading. Can't wait to go back!!!!

I really wanted to like this place. Great concept but not executed. The young lady at the counter/register was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, the cooks (you can see from the restaurant) seemed too lax and inexperienced. It was exciting to have fried chicken but my chicken was SUPER tough. Like real tough. I've read a lot of reviews that say their chicken is bland but I found the flavor to be fine. The honey mustard dip was amazing. So was the Maine Root soda they offer. All of the sides I got were disgusting and looked/tasted old (Cole slaw, mashed potatoes and fries). I was sick that night and the whole next day. Not sure if it was gluten or food poisoning.

I do not think this restaurant truly understands gluten free. I became violently ill after eating their meal this evening. After reading the review that talked about their French Fries not being gluten free due to possible cross contamination it made me pay attention. While filling my glass at the soda fountain I watched a staff member put ribs into a deep fry basket and then pull out a French Fry that was left over and I can only now assume it was also cooked in the same oil. I also witnessed them carry biscuits with tongs over our food on the counter. When the meal was brought out I asked the server, who happened to be that same person who pulled the French Fry from the basket about their fries not being gluten free and what oil they are being cooked in. She assured me they were not cooked in the same oil. 1:30 in the morning and I am sick as a dog, so what I witnessed and what I was told was two different things. Celiac Disease is VERY REAL, and until restaurant owners, managers and their stuff FULLY UNDERSTAND this and stop treating it like like 'diets of choice' that will have no negative effects people will continue to get sick and in turn not dine there. If you have Celiac Disease I would use EXTREME CAUTION dinning at this restaurant, because what they say and do are apparently two different things.

Ong! So glad we found this place! All fried chicken is gluten free and most of the sides are too. The chicken was really good and the Brussels sprouts were one of the best things I've ever had- loved! Highly recommend- our non gf family also really enjoyed. Can't wait till we travel back to Houston to eat there again

Not impressed. I was really excited about being able to eat some celiac friendly fried chicken. Unfortunately, the cashier told me that there is a 50/50 chance of contamination with the fries and the chicken lacked flavor. They dropped the ball and I'm not going back.

Fantastic! I was excited to try a place that offered GF chicken...not just any chicken but FRIED chicken! That's a rarity for a celiac. My lunch was amazing. The chicken is perfectly crispy and the mashed potatoes were divine. I'm not a fan of coleslaw at all, but theirs was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also opted for their GF brownie and it did not disappoint. Funky Chicken is now on my list of fave restaurants. Great atmosphere too!

Pretty expensive for small portions of friend chicken and southern style sides but worth every penny! I hadn't had fried chicken since being diagnosed and Funky Chicken didn't disappoint.

It had been years since I'd last had traditional fried chicken! Very tasty. All sides except macaroni and cheese are gluten free. The GF brownie is good too!

Gluten free fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gluten free gravy. It was so good, it reminded me of how my mom used to made it. If your craving fried chicken you should give this a try!

I was very excited to try this. Good food! We got the Chicken tenders, fried chicken and mashed potatoes w/ GF gravy. Definitely coming back and maybe adding it to my own GF waffles from home.

Delicious!! They have gluten free organic roasted and crispy fried chicken, ribs and wings! The sides are yummy-had the mashed potatoes (they were out of the gf gravy), quinoa and Brussels sprouts (soo good!) The fries are produced in a plant where there are wheat products, so they can't guarantee they are gf. They also have a gf brownie, salads and vegetarian "chicken" for non-meat eaters. I can't wait to come back!
