They need to state that they only offer gluten free on their website.
They only offer gluten free cupcakes on Fridays in three flavors, but they can be ordered ahead of time for special occasions.
They make the best GF cupcakes and they change the flavors daily.
They have a sign up specifically stating that although they offer gf cupcakes, they do not suggest those with Celiac eat them. They did say gf cupcakes can be ordered in advance and then they would be made first thing in the morning in an attempt to cut down on possible contamination. I haven't decided if I'll try that route yet.
The cupcakes here are okay. I had the GF lemonberry and there was way more icing than cupcake. It was overly sweet and just wasn't anything special. Next time, I plan on trying the peanut butter chocolate. It makes me a little nervous that the GF cupcakes are in an open case with the rest of the gluten cupcakes. My friend got a gluten cupcake and the lady asked if we wanted them in the same box. Apparently they're not too concerned with avoiding cross contamination. **UPDATE** I did indeed get sick from these cupcakes. They are far from Celiac safe.
Lots of gluten free options. They bake the gluten free cupcakes first thing in the morning so they don't get contaminated. The cupcakes are made with rice flour so it depends on if you can have rice or not. They change their gloves and put the gluten free cupcakes in a separate box. They are very good about not cross contaminating.
I had 4 options for gluten-free cupcake on a Friday night - princess, lemon, chocolate peanut butter, and triple chocolate torte. We got the lemon and the pb. Lemon was a smidge gummy and could've been more lemony but it was still good. The chocolate was pretty good, but mostly because of the divine tasting frosting! I would go back.
Delicious cupcakes! Not celiac safe! Gluten free cupcakes and regular cupcakes are kept in the same case in the Louisville store. The same bowls and utensils are used for both although there is no signage. Definitely cross contamination. If you are not highly sensitive, I highly recommend.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered birthday cupcakes for my little one who has Celiacs along with a dairy allergy. I was assured that they could and did make them free of both. She didn't feel well after eating them, but after being assured by Gigi's many times I assumed it was because of so much sugar. 6 months later I called to order the same for pre k graduation and was told that they could only do gluten OR dairy free, but not both. I asked the manager how long it had been that way and was informed that it always has been so whatever I had gotten previously had either gluten or dairy in it.
Carrot cake cupcake is amazing!! Other favorite is the wedding cake! I have ordered their cakes for my child's birthday and they were perfect!! All of their flavors come in GF. If they don't have your favorite flavor just order it and pick it up the next day.( 24hr notice) Love Love Love this place!! The people are always friendly too!!
I love their white wedding cake gf cupcake! When I need a sweet fix, Gigi's is my go-to place! I have never gotten sick from their cupcakes and I am a celiac who's sensitive to even trace amounts of gluten. It's smart to call ahead and see if they have any gf cupcakes left before driving over. Sometimes they run out (because hello--gluten free cupcakes that actually taste good? Amazing!) I'm a big fan.
This cupcake place is not Celiac-friendly. I spoke with a manager a couple of weeks ago, and he said everything is made in the same pans-they just wash them. There is no special care taken to prevent cross-contamination. The manager said if he was me, he wouldn't chance it, which is a shame, because he said their gluten free cupcakes are really, really good. I am disappointed that I won't get to try them. It's always disappointed when some place "gluten free" isn't really for the people who need it.
Just got them and now I'm nervous. They look delicious, but I'm not sure if I want them after reading disclaimer sticker on box and last review :(
We used to be regulars of Gigi's. Have been told they have at least one gluten free option per day. Made a special trip today to get cupcakes for my three kids, and found out that not a single GF cupcake had been made today. Not very fun to tell your three kids that they cannot have a cupcake after you made a special trip because you were told there is a GF option every day. Call before you go so you don disappoint anyone.
Terrible - How can they market Gluten Free? I have Celiac Dx and became very ill. My sister has a wheat intolerance and became ill. Gluten Free is not a Fad! I hope this app removes them so no one else is fooled by "we take precautions".....My GI says otherwise! - -Disappointed - -
It's fun to be able to get cute cupcakes any day. The staff is helpful. We've never been sick from these cupcakes. We don't really like the flavored that aren't the flourless cake-- strange texture. I also don't think the frosting tastes that great. It tastes about like what I expect from canned frosting.
Gluten free cupcakes every day! So delicious! They have several different flavors each day!
Have been to this location 3 times and have never had a problem with cross contamination. The last time I went, I was disappointed to see that the Peanut Butter Cup flavor was sold out, but the woman at the counter (sorry, I didn't catch her name) offered to make me one if they had any gf ingredients left. They did, and it was delicious!
AMAZING GF cupcakes. Everything I eat one, I think they gave me a regular one by mistake. they are so yummy!
Gigi's in Louisville need to post a sign that they can't guarantee gluten safe. Cross contamination is possible. I was informed that Gigi's uses same mixing bowls/mixer used for gluten to mix gluten free mix. They just wash bowls in water & soap. Not safe for Celiac!
